Rotation Question,

by Nakrin
Hi I been looking for a rotation for my spec and have been using the Rotation below,
Here is a link to my build if needed
Nakrin
Serpent Sting is not listed because it should always be on the target.
1) Kill Shot (when you Can)
2) Chimera Shot.....Macro also does Silencing Shot
3) Aimed Shot
4) Arcane Shot
5) Steady Shot
My question is Chimera shot does: the following
You deal 125% weapon damage,
refreshing the current Sting on your target and triggering an effect:
Serpent Sting - Instantly deals 40% of the damage done by your Serpent Sting.
And Aimed shots does:
An aimed shot that increases ranged damage by 408,
reduces healing done to that target by 50%.
Lasts 10 sec.
Would it not up my Dps I added switched them two shots around?

From Elitist Jerks http://elitistjerks.com/f74/t98126-mm_hunter_3_3_a/ :
You should macro Silencing Shot and Kill Command into all your shots, then use the following priority:
1. Serpent Sting (usually you will only need to cast this once)
2. Kill Shot (when available)
3. Chimera Shot
4. Aimed Shot
5. Arcane Shot (remove if your gear is good enough)
6. Steady Shot
Note: if you have extremely high ArPen, it may be worth moving Aimed Shot ahead of Chimera in priority. Kill Shot's ideal priority relative to Chimera and Aimed Shot may also vary depending on gear.
There is no value in delaying a Chimera Shot past the cooldown as the amount of chimera-serpent damage dealt is based on the total amount a full serpent sting would do and has no relationship to the current sting duration.

Nakrin you definitely want Chimera before Aimed, and to keep Arcane in your rotation for your gear level.

Chimera will keep your sting always on the boss so it's always ticking down.

Thanks for the Info guys

Pretty much. You don't need to macro them to ALL your shots but enough so that those abilities will fire as soon as they are off cooldown.
Just remember that if you are put on interrupt duty to replace your macro shots with the default versions so you can manually fire Silencing Shot exactly when you need it.

I have it macroed into Steady. That works fine for me. The common praxis however is to macro it into your Chimaera.
I put the macro next to the normal steady.

I have it macroed with Chimaera, but it may work better with Steady shot,
i have Kill Command macroed with rapid fire and trinkets

That's not at all useful as Kill Command is up every 60 seconds.

may have to macro it with something else then,
Also
"5. Arcane Shot (remove if your gear is good enough)"
Do you have to move it? will it make my DPS better if I remove it (once my gear is good enough) I actually like using it

Yup, once your ArP is high enough Arcane is useless, as it will be surpassed by Steady in terms of actual damage done.
And if you want something to macro Kill Command into, try Steady.

I have Kill Command on Steady Shot and Chimera Shot.
As for Arcane Shot, there is not an easy answer for this, as there are multiple factors to consider.
a) You would remove Arcane Shot (and Improved Arcane Shot from your talents) when your Steady Shot does more damage. Now, to determine when this is, you need to figure out what your Steady Shot damage is modified by the armour (10643 Armor, a damage reduction percentage of 41.13%). Then figure out how much damage your Improved Arcane Shot does. When the value for Steady is higher, that is when you remove Arcane. Do not factor in Armour Penetration here, since that stat is basically icing on the cake so to speak, which will mean more damage.
b) The above with only mean a DPS increase IF you can ensure you are firing the maximum number of Steady Shots, or at the very least being able to fire a Steady in place of where the Arcane Shot would have been. This means being able to stand still to fire, as the loss of Arcane Shot is the loss of an instant cast which you can fire while moving.
Now this assumes a raiding Hunter aiming for squeezing out every last drop of DPS possible. If you're not that Hunter, don't worry about Arcane Shot and play how you like to play, so always be sure to match the Hunter info available to your own situation and needs.

That would be handy for me as I usually for forget to use kill command. What is the macro to have kill command and Steady as one ?

For the small macro it would be
Code: Select all
/cast Steady Shot
/cast Silencing Shot
/cast Kill Command

I'm not marks so I would remove the Silencing shot. How would I remove the error it would give me when Kill Command is still on cooldown ?

The marco as it without Silencing shot didn't work.
I changed a few things so now it reflects as this:
#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast Kill Command
/cast Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:UnregisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
This seems to work and will hide the error message when kill command is still on cooldown.

This is because steady shot has a cast time. It must be the last cast in the macro to work. Otherwise, kill command and silencing shot will not fire as the macro will always do steady first.

Yah, I noticed the problem now. I wasn't at my main computer, so I couldn't access my list o' Macros. And I use an addon to remove the errorframes. Either way, Wassa posted up a good list on that other thread.
