Darkmoon Fair - questions

I just tried the faire today for the first time, and was wondering if anyone can answer these:
1) How many tickets can you earn per day - if you don't want to do dungeons or pvp?
2) If you don't spend the tickets before end of the week, do they remain in your bag until the next fair arrives, or do they have a limited duration?

The tickets are actually in your currency tab and do not take up space in your inventory. They do not expire.
Warcraftpets post on the tickets
I believe the profession quests require a skill level of 75. The Darkmoon Artifacts can be bought from the AH.

You don't have to be in a bg or dungeon for this one. Just anything that will give you experience or honor can collect a trophy for you. I highly suggest the Stone Bats in Deepholm if you are a hunter, since you can track them and easily one shot them with multi-shot, plus I didn't see anyone else there but a level 83 doing quests. Other spots like Icecrown, between Ymirheim and The Fleshwerks, is a great place to farm but this place is well known and there will be other people there farming. Also heard after the first boss in Halls of Lightning you can kill the quickly respawning Slags and since it's in the instance you have no competition.

I am not sure about that. Every mob (with my killing blow) in new RHC gave me a Grizzly Trophy. BGs as well.
Mobs in Deepholm or Hyjal / Vash'jr also gave me few trophys.
I think every
mob and player 80+ guarantee 1 grizzly trophy per killing blow.
But correct me if im wrong.

You get them from things that give you XP or Honour.

To clarify, all these quests are started by artefacts that drop in dungeons, raids and bg BUT all these items can be bought on the ah so you don't have to collect them yourself. And Nahale is right that they're best bought in between fairs because they get really expensive while the fair is on.
Also, Wassa is correct about the Grisly Trophies. I did Test Your Strength on my level 61 Mage today killing my way across Badlands (because it's faster to kill green mobs). I got a trophy for every kill - took me about 45 min to farm up 250.
So you don't have to do bg and dungeons at all to get all the tickets that are available every week. Though it costs a lot of gold to buy the artefacts.

Just ran 4 randoms and did not see a single darkmoon dungeon drop - I don't mean it dropped but I lost the roll on it, I mean no drops whatsoever for anyone in the group.
I had my adventurer's guide, and was getting trophies, so I know that wasn't an issue.
So either it's a waste of time to run dungeons for darkmoon "specials", or else I was just extremely unlucky...

The dungeon stuff intentionally has a crappy drop rate. A blue post somewhere said they wanted it to be a long grind |:|

Yes, it's much quicker to just earn the gold to buy the artifacts in the AH.

Ok. Good to know (esp as I was only averaging 20 trophies per run...)
I'm getting the sense that either you're hardcore, or else you plan your darkmoon ticket purchases over several months.

I have to say, my husband and I do the 250 Grisly together on our pallies. We don't want to do 500 mobs because that means running all over the place, back and forth, etc. so we took this person's suggestion from Wowhead and found it worked for us. This is for 85's and if you have unlocked the Molten Front. Keep in mind, I'm not sure how it works exactly but sometimes I can kill 8 of the mobs beating on me with a rune and I get 2 grislys and he gets 5! However, it sometimes works the same way when he kills a lot of them too so we don't complain. It takes very little time to do this way.
All I can say is, be sure to leave ONE rune each time. We always leave the one up the hill.
This last time, I had picked up my valentine box that let's you collect the lucky charm pieces to make the lovely charm bracelets, and I had 9 completed bracelets by the time we were done so no matter how you are doing the 250 Grislys, pick up the Valentine box because even if you do not use them, it's no extra grind and you can sell them!
Here's the wowhead post:
This method requires you to have unlocked the The Shadow Wardens portion of the Molten Front daily quests.
Accept the quest Enduring the Heat. While running through the cave, stop over each Flame Protection Rune which will grant you the Flame Protection Rune buff; this will negate most of the incoming fire damage. Allow the elementals to spawn and attack you until there are about 6 nearby. At that point, use the rune to instantly kill the elementals. The elementals tend to despawn if they've been around too long without being attacked.
Repeat this process for all but one of the Runes so you don't accidentally complete the quest. Run out of the cave to reset the runes.
