I'm not certain how you'd find this out, but I do know of the model viewer maybe would help, but Wowhead's does not include a rider...? I can barely get it working randomly though... I mean the Wow-viewer from a download.

The question is this: Is there any flying mounts (barring wind riders) that do not impale the rider while on the ground, and idled?

I've seen random people sitting on drakes, being impaled by most of their spikes on the back of the head. I know this is just a graphic quirk, and does no real damage... but it's something that still bugs me.

Can anyone help me figure this out? It may also give me a goal, to at least try to obtain of of those rider-safe flying mounts, for my new baby hunter - Mithlek.

Please not, that I know most of the mounts, but months from the game have killed my memory of them. Plus, on my old hunter, I only had wind-riders, I was unlucky to ever see any drake mounts, and never got finished with Netherwing either - I was at Revered, nearly exalted, but the pvp ganks broke me and made me quit.

Well there is the ashes of al'ar and maybe some of the nether rays. And of course the drakes of the winds cant impale you and the sandstone drake wont impale you since you are it.

Another idea is Hippogryphs; they have a lot of personality in a small footprint.

Proto-drakes don't impale the riders.

Gryphons also.

I think I have a goal in mind, starting from one to another. Or at least attempting to get one only, and I'd be perfectly happy with it.

1. Proto-Drake - either farm for green, or attempt to get blue/ red (I believe the red's from raiding...? @.@ ).

2. Netherrays - always interested me.

3. Hippogryph.

As my hunter is Horde, I believe getting a gryphon is impossible.
