Alrighty, here's the setup for this here thread.

I was on my Warrior, minding my own business mining Cobalt in Zul'drak as I'm leveling its blacksmithing, and in dire need of tons of the blue shiny metal. At first I thought "Well, I don't really want Gondria... so if I see it, I'll just kill it." And I went through with that mentality for my first set of runs for Cobalt, and no signs of STD cat.

So I log off my warrior, being sick of mining. I log onto my hunter to fill its last stable slot with an old pet of mine, the Red Devilsaur. So I head out to Icecrown after my search for the Red Ninjasaur (They can hide reaaaaly well when you want to find one.) to try and level him.

I don't get very far with the leveling before I decide, eh, not in the mood really (If I wore a mood ring when playing wow, It'd change waay too often). So I log my hunter off right in the middle of Ice Crown and go back to doing circuits for Cobalt.

So, I do tons and tons of circuits for Cobalt. Getting a decent ammount (still nowhere near the amount I need mind you). Then I fly over to the Altar of Rhunok/Zol'Maz Stronghold Gondria spawn point.

And what do I see?

Yes, STD Cat in all his glory. I stand there, staring at him... he... she... whatever it is, just thinking... I couldn't kill it... Plus I KNOW I could tame this one (Unlike my attempts at Krush in another thread).

So I hurriedly /who Zul'drak and to my surprise, no body else was there. But that doesn't mean I would fly out there slowly!

So I log out as fast as I could, then log onto my hunter, and after a hearth and a seemingly absurdly slow FP I'm at Zim'Torga. Hoping, that no one had managed to kill Gondria.

Cue a few minutes later with me accidently frost traping a Bear, and then a Guardian Sentinel guy.... I now have my third (after Arc + Skoll) spirit Beast... He's not really thrilling me to bits right now. But, maybe he'll grow on me. Who knows.

So, besides people raining on parades who will say Spirit Beasts are overrated or Gondria is boring, who else has seen a pet... decided, hey, why not and tried to see if they'd grow on ya.

Mm, definitely Spirit Beasts can grow on you.

I started out not having the slightest interest in them at all, and now I've had all 4 of them (though I only have 3 currently). I totally understand not liking them if they're not your thing. Everyone's got their own tastes in pets. I was just shocked at how much I came to appreciate their beauty after I had tamed them. x)

I did it first with Arcturis, after saying that I didn't see the appeal of spirit beasts. Well, I don't like bears much so Arcturis himself didn't grow on me at all, but the whole spirit beast family started to. I think it was the spirit strike and the fact that they are exotic, and just overall pretty neat pets once you tame one (at least to me). A couple nights later my husband spotted Loque'nahak milling about by the gorillas in Sholazar. I bid farewell to Arcturis and took the "absurdly slow" flight to SB (it really does seem absurdly slow), and he was still there! I tamed him and kept him for quite some time. But, something about Loque just didn't appeal to me quite as much as I had hoped. I like him, don't get me wrong. His roar is really cool and he's truly unique. But when I first started to become interested in spirit beasts, I had pretty much made up my mind that I liked Gondria the best. So, I released Loque'nahak and began my search for Gondria. It took three days (not solid camping, just quick 10-minute flights once or twice a night) to find her, and she's definitely my favorite of the bunch. So, I've tamed three total and kept one.

I did with the bear. Had no intentions on taming him until a friend of mine whispered me if I wanted the bear he was kiting him for me. I said what the heck and went and got him. Have not played much with him yet.

Ah, this reminds me of my Jormungar story. But, it is a story that requires BACK-story.

Way back when I was a new Hunter, I was running through my first RFC. What is the first mob you encounter in that dungeon? Why, one of the little red worms of course! I gasped, I squealed, I wanted one for my own! But alas, they were not a tamable beastie. I was a sad Hunter, but I sucked it up and proceeded to kill all of the cute little things.

Enter Exotics, and the ability to tame worms! I ran out to that dungeon and tamed the first one that slithers around the enterance. I called him Jim, and I was happy.
But, I never seemed to use Jim. I had Yume, my main pat, that I always ran with, and I didn't want her to fall behind me level wise. So Jim sat in the stables, unused, until I was done leveling and I could catch him up. But then, I hit a road block. I'd gotten to level 68, and I had decided, before I even started playing WoW, that I would tame myself a Warp Stalker. My 3 Stable lots were full. I had the choice of abandoning either Jim or Blue, the white lion I had fallen for at level 16. Deciding Jim was the easier retame for the future, I let him go, promising to come back later if/when I got more Stable slots.
But when that expansion came, I never really got to it. I was busy leveling, questing, exploring Northrend and all that! Jim just wasn't a priority, because Iknew he'd just sit in that stable slot again till I was finished with everything else.

Now, on to the main story.
Jormungars. Sure, they were cool looking with the fur and teeth and all that, but I was never gaga over getting one. I much prefered my red worm Jim. But when I got it into my mind to camp for Loque, I knew I couldn't just sit/fly around all day waiting for the spawn. I needed to do something while I waited and, as a Hunter, you prettymuch needed a pet partner to do anything. I decided to make use of the queue in from anywhere for a BG feature while I waited, but I needed a pet. So, I thought hey, I can get me a Jormungar already at lvl 80 in the Storm Peaks! And, since I don't like them too much, it'll be easy to drop when I find Loque! Perfect!

Except, it wasn't so perfect. I tore through AB after AB with Jorgen the Jormungar at my side, and sad to say, I became fond of the little bugger. Naming him after a cartoon character I'm slightly fond of probably didn't help either, but the big hairy worm just reminded me of the musclebound fairy from Fairly Odd Parents for some reason. So when the time came and I found Loque, through the mad 'OMG Panic!' he inspires, it was with a degree of sadness that I let Jorgen go, even though I always knew I would be doing so.

Even now, I miss Jorgen. I miss him more then Jim, even though I still love the little red guy. Hence come Cata, depending on how many Stable slots we are gifted with, I may be filling not only one, but two of them with Worms. =)
