I am an alchemist and have one of the crafted trinkets equipt. my question is twofold....#1 Does it count toward the gear requirements for random heroics, and where can I get a decent upgrade? Mind you I only have a GS of about 3k, and only have been 80 for 4 days.
On a side not still no Loque

I dislike the notion that one must be geared in certain things to qualify for heroics. All you need for heroics is to be level 80 and know how to play your class reasonably well. There's a sliding scale in which the higher your skill the lesser your gear needs to be, or the poorer you are at your class the greater your gear needs to be. The skill end is the best to be at, but sometimes some stronger gear can gloss over some skill shortcomings.
Crafted gear is perfectly good gear for starting heroics, and you can get some very nice upgrades in heroics to replace the crafted items.
A few options:
Sphere of Red Dragon's Blood from The Nexus
Incisor Fragment from Drak'Tharon Keep
Banner of Victory from regular (non-Heroic) Trial of the Crusader
Needle Encrusted Scorpion from Forge of Souls
Purchasable Trinkets:
Mirror of Truth, 40 Heroism badges
Darkmoon Card: Greatness on the Auction House or via turning in a Noble's Deck to the Darkmoon Faire
Mark of Supremacy 50 Triumph badges
There's a great list here too which covers some of the above, but includes some quest reward trinkets as well as some raid-level trinkets:

Awesome trinket list!!! It's pathetic, I've been level 80 for a while and am still sporting that Sphere of Red Dragon's Blood. I can't for the life of me find a replacement (my other is the Mirror of Truth). I only have 400g right now so I'm a ways away from being able to afford a Greatness trinket, and as many times as I've done FoS, that dang trinket won't drop. Don't even get me started on how many runs I've done through normal ToC with STILL no trinket. One of my rings is in the same situation. Blargh.
But yes, back on topic, what Anansi said is right on - you can do heroics with crafted stuff and still do well as long as you know what you're doing. With T9 tokens being purchased through emblems, you'll be geared up all spiffy-like in no time! So honestly, you don't need to worry too much about it.

I had the Sphere of Red Dragon's Blood for so long too. It was the one blue item in an otherwise all-purple set of gear for the stupidest length of time. I forget what I finally replaced it with. Probably DMC:Greatness. And then I had that thing for ever! I had really wanted the Incisor Fragment too, which I never saw drop. Now that I no longer need it I see it quite frequently of course.
Trinkets are by design supposed to be the "crap shoot" items since other gear is much easier to obtain now. It's frustrating though..

thank you very much. I am trying to gear up some more so I can focus on running heroics, and the weekly. Right now the only heroics I can't enter through the random interface are FoS, PoS, HoR, and ToC. Here is my armory page if anyone is interested.

Well you want to get rid of the Indestructible Alchemist's Stone right away as it is completely useless for you.
Not being able to do heroic FoS cuts out the Needle Encrusted Scorpion right now, but that's it. The Banner of Victory comes from regular ToC, and, I believe, you can run that one as many times per day as you want.

Thank you very much. To be honest I only had equipt Indestructible Alchemist's Stone for help with taming and soloing elite quest mobs. I have been running alot of random heroics for emblems. I currently have 31 triumphs, and as soon as I get 50 I'll buy Mark of Supremacy.

Mark of Supremacy is only advisable if you need the Hit that comes with it. Otherwise, it's not terribly attractive as a trinket and you'd be better with a different option. Mirror of Truth is really quite solid.

hmmm tough choices all around. I think I'll try for a run through ToC and the ICC 5 mans before deciding It's just so hard to accessorize the right way.
