Using Art to raise funds

Unread post by Zangor »

so i have a deviantart account finally and im really into my art these days (having 10 different concepts in my head at any given moment) and im also in desperate need of a new gaming computer because this compaq i got from best buy cant do too much as far as gaming and digital art are concerned.

just wanted to ask if i should consider doing commissions to raise funds. any feedback would be helpful including other suggestions on ways of making some money.

If you are going to do commissions on DA spam the forums basicly. I've found my mates threads get bogged down to the 3 page or so in a few days time so best to repost it as much as you can. I've found just putting in your journal does jack all (unless you are one of those uber popular people).

my number one concern is that people wont take any interest in my style of art at all? and how much i should charge for commisions so that people feel they arent paying more than is needed. alot of things to consider.

Yeah that's true.

I charge $5 USD for a B&W sketch and $10 for a colour one. Thats no BGs and only one person. I've only ever had one real commision and that was for Duke nukem and er ponies doing adult stuff XD So I may not be the best person to get info from.

But it can't hurt to try no? I guess it's best to think it over for a bit.

Why on earth would anyone want a picture of ponies going to work and filling out tax returns?

Duke Nukem wouldn't need to fill out tax returns. He's posted a considerable loss and has barely worked for a decade ;)
