I'm thinking though this is just one of those things so that if they can PROVE someone say.. committed suicide due to harassment online, they can be held just as liable for their actions as if they had done it in person. Honestly, I see it as the same as those laws that have public parks (you know.. the kind with grass and paths, and trees, and no fences...) close at 10pm just so they have grounds to arrest or kick people out that they might suspect of dealing drugs, or doing other illegal activities. Or anti-piracy laws... It'll be something that allows charges to be pressed IF someone has a legitemate, serious complaint, but I doubt they'll go patrolling forums and scanning IPs and being all "OH! You said the f-word and called that person a bitch! And we see you live in Arizona! 25 years in jail for you!" ...

Well Trolling and that kind of Harassment are not really the same thing most of the time. This could easyily be abused if they can prove it but it would be hard to prove something on the internet seeing as most trolls don't use the same IPS as their real one. Even then that troll might not of made them committe suicide and would most likely be hard to prove that they did. :/ it's kind of a silly law.

Basicly what I'm saying is that most of the time it would be near impossible to prove that someone is a troll.

If someone commits suicide, Crys, due to harassment....thats cyber bullying...not trolling....Cyber Bullying and Trolling are on opposite sides of the spectrum. One is harmless, the other is extremely over the line.

Yes.. but the actual LAW says "It is unlawful for any person, with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, to use a ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act, or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person."

Read that without already reading the interpretation that this is an anti-trolling law. That's not trolling.. To me.. the quote above isn't referring to TROLLING.. it's actually referring to harassment.

How is intending to terrify, intimidate, threaten etc referring to trolling? To me, it's cyber bullying. That article is very clearly biased, heh.

I really wish these older government officials and bill writers would at least attempt to understand the internet before trying to pass any of these horribly worded and down-right silly laws. If you don't understand how something works, writing a bill for said something will almost undoubtedly go awry... *cough*PETA*cough*

No this just proves that our elected officials (and some parents) do not now how the internet works. They really need to go an do something productive like mow lawns or sell cars for a living instead of trying to tell me how to live my life.
