Pet Emote

Do you use this addon? If not, you so should, it's lovely. If you do, share stories!

My primary pet is Jiaphyon (Jia) my red hyena. According to PetEmote he will often howl or yip and then listen for a return answer. Usually there isn't one, but sometimes answering noises can be 'heard in the distance.' Now this makes sense in open aired areas, but one time it happened while I was riding the tram thing from Stormwind to Ironforge. SO, the underground now has SECRET SUBWAY HYENAS.

I love this addon.

I used to have it all the time, but when I started raiding a bit with Veph I removed it since the pet emote kind of became an annoyance during the dungeons with it constantly going off. >.>

However, I think I'm going to reinstall it since I'm having fun levelling my new Troll. :) I found the real version of it after some false/broken ones.

Here's the download page for any who didn't know of it (like me):

Yeah, when I was running with my Hyena (Loki) back in Naxx, I had pet emote running and it was fun for about a week before it got to be a little obnoxious. I did, however, macro together a few emotes for him. At the time, a lot of my guildies were running Undead, so Loki would occasionally gnaw on their exposed leg bones.

I love this addon, especially for spider pets. It's just adorable.

I adore this addon for RP. I turned off random emotes, but I love using it for when I RP my pets.

That has to be my favorite add-on in all honesty. I love it for most of my pets but some of the families don't seem to have per-set emotes. Anyone else notice this?

Early in the development of this addon, the author asked the users who made their own custom emotes to submit their custom emotes to her. She later incorporated the suitable custom emotes into the later versions. You can still make your custom emotes using the editor included in the download or you can edit the custom emote xml.

Just FYI, the current version is out of date but it can still work if you enable it. I love this emote too but I haven't gotten around to "enabling" it. I was hoping that there would be a new version that is compatible with WoW's current patch.

Yeah, I noticed when I tamed a moth a while back that it didn't do anything, which was a little upsetting. :(

Love the addon and have just one grumble...my spirit beast bear purrs...wtf is up with that??? I have to keep reminding him he's a bear which makes everybody around me laugh so i guess it's worth it. Also, don't know if anybody noticed, but if you target someone and wait long enough the pet will interact with them through emotes. Also i notice the pet will emote alert when it's feeding time...mine usually "gives me a dirty look and stalks away".

Just a quick question, do these emotes show up for others too?

Yes, they do, though you'll see something like "Taigi's cat Crescent purrs" instead of just "Crescent purrs."

However, I think you need to have petEmote itself to see them? I'm not sure on that part. I've been able to see other peoples' emotes even when I'm not on my hunter, but I also have the addon.

I still need to figure out how to make custom emotes. My warp stalker is my main RP pet, and she can't do anything. D:

People who are not you and have the addon will see "Petname does Somestuff."

People who are not you and do not have the addon see "Yourname's pet Family Petname does Somestuff."

IE: Cuddles purrs contentedly.
IE: Ryno 's pet Cat Cuddles purrs contentedly.

It amuses some members of my 10 man raid to no end that they see the family before the pet's name. When I finally gave in and went SV for my raiding spec, I ended up taming a cat since, at the time at least, folks told me it was the best for SV raiding. I kinda didn't want a cat and grumpily just didn't name it. People in the raid teased me about getting off my butt and giving the pet a name, so I just named him Cat. When I let Cat go and tamed a wolf for raiding, I decided to name him Cat as a joke.

So those around me without PetEmote see "Skywatcher's Wolf Cat chases a bug" or some such. Now I get teased about my wolf who has some identity issues and thinks he's a cat. Of course, I add to that with plenty of use of the /pet command.

If your petemote editor is incompatible with your OS, you can edit it with a .lua editor but you might need to understand a little computer programming to make your own emotes.

Is there any version of this mod that DOESN'T overwrite the /pet command? That would drive me batty. >_<
