Yeah, it sucks that the text was changed due to silly people.
I didn't even notice anything, since my pandaren is male, but I read it on the forums. I hope the devs change their mind.

Indeed.
Oh daily blink. You get it. *nods*
I liked this comment best: "exactly. honestly blizzard did a disservice not to art, not to women, but to making a vibrant and engaging world. i want a game where orcs sneer at my tauren when i waltz into org. i want the night elves to be whining about how malfurion just plunked a bunch of filthy human refugees in darnassus without saying a word. i want a little xenophobia. i want a little color, for quest givers to react far more to my avatar's race/gender/class.
skyrim is a good example. you play kahjiit? get ready for people to be muttering about filthy cats while walking through town. be ready for guards to rough you up for doing NOTHING(which shocked me.) be ready to get your ass GOUGED by the merchant.
it's an engaging and vibrant, breathing, LIVING approach to world design. it's far more interesting than blizzard's "united colors of benetton'' approach to WoW where everyone's nice and homogenous."

Just kinda funny that this is the line to set them off...but they dont go after the goblin female that calls men a beef cake and the girls a tramp....or the goblin that flirts with me on the way to STV....

Go Bliz! Its a shame to see the quest text changed-but at least they are trying to make the point of how ridiculous it is that this entire thing has been blown so out of proportion.

I assumed it was a Daily Blink-made joke comic--is it actually text in-game on the beta?
And the the original complaint wasn't that it was offensive--it was that it completely broke immersion and made people draw back and go "wtf?" Lots of people just felt that it was out of place. I think that's the point of the comic--that ridicule one way or the other is stupid; it's just some quest text in the end, so if a few people are minorly bothered & blizz decides to change it... who cares?

Nope, it's just something the Daily Blink made.
And yeah... It is saying that both sides are being rediculous. I'm still a little upset about it though, it really did add a lot of character to him and emphasized that he tends to act before thinking.

For those of us late to the party, what was the original change that set this off?

Hrm, shame they changed it, it gave him personality to me. I don't think I even stopped to ponder over his original statement in the beta, it certainly never stuck out at me as anything to get offended over.

some people are just to sensitive in my book honesty its a freaking game get over it
she seems to me the type that if you said hi to her as a male in the street she would scream harassment
Blizzz shouldn't change one line of dialogue for anyone it gave ji a difference now he is just boring and generic
i honesty hate ppl like that they are the types that come in tot game store i work at and pick up say COD(which i hate btw) and say how can you sell such filth i just face palm and walk away don't even bother aruging with them now
ppl like them are gonna love SWtor when they bring in same sex romance oh wait they delayed it because of them my bad

Oh, spare me.
I wouldn't exactly call myself a feminist, but I do get kinda shirty if someones being sexist.
This isn't exactly sexist.. he's commenting on how pretty the character is.
I can't believe someone was actually offended by it.. I mean, to each their own, but seriously? Changing it?
When I read the quest text a few days ago, I laughed. I think it's cute ^_^
