What's Terraria you might ask? For those of you familiar with Minecraft, many people have described Terraria as its 2D counterpart. I can provide the link to its main community site.
http://www.terraria.org/
Just like Minecraft, the basic tasks in Terraria are to build homes to protect yourself from evil outside especially at night, and you mine different ores to build gear and weapons out of. Copper is the weakest metal, while according to Terraria, Gold is the strongest. Even stronger than Iron.
Unlike Minecraft, there are more things to do in Terraria. What separates Terraria the most is the fact the game has bosses in which you can beat for even better gear and unlocking other parts of the world.
Since 1.1, this patch changed everything Terraria used to be and it ended up becoming even better with seemingly dozens of new additions, including a hard mode after destroying a particular boss. Once you enter hard mode, as expected, everything gets harder but you can get even cooler things you couldn't obtain before like wings. The only thing to watch out for indeed though is the spread of corruption which has doubled.
I recently bought the game after months of watching it from people's LP's on Youtube and have been so excited to play it. I haven't gotten to hard mode yet on my new character but I feel I am getting close. All I need is to deplete more of the corruption as much as I can before I will attempt to.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing Terraria, but recently heard that there were going to be no further developments for the game.

True it is a bummer. Doesn't mean it still can't be enjoyed though, especially with someone like me that has finally gotten around to playing it for the first time and I am totally addicted to it.
I did read they are going to make another game, Starbound. Very similar landscape compared to Terraria and it sounds like there will be more to do as more planets are involved. I am interested in getting that game once it's released sometime in the summer.

I've been playing this game FOREVER and think I even created a thread on it a while back.
Shame the creators aren't updating it anymore but I'll never quit playing.
Just wish I could figure out multiplayer.

I think the trick to running a multiplayer server is to just have a fast internet. I am sure it doesn't cost anything to just have one other player with you or maybe even two. A lot of the Youtube LP's I've been watching were mostly duo commentary.

I think the colored torches other than the yellow and the white are very eerie in their own way. Ever since I "borrowed" some dungeon bricks from the dungeon (which I actually completely demolished the front of it and King Slime wanted to say hi at some moment), I wanted to reinforce my floating pyramid homes after reading what the bad guys during a blood moon at hard mode can do. One thing I didn't show which is to the right is a big "factory" I built where all my tools are. Above that I built a small greenhouse but I ended up just using that mud in there for jungle grass, which causes the jungle song to start every time I get close. The jungle theme is one of my favorite songs so it worked. However, now, it has to combat with the corruption music from the small corruption farm I designed to the right of that.

TERRARIA! <3 8D
...Okay, I actually don't play it THAT MUCH. I've derped around in it slightly, but.. I sorta fail at it. BUT! I LOVE the game, if only because of an LP of it (Pfft, it's more like a "LET'S FAIL MISERABLY AT THIS GAME" than an actual Let's Play XD) that I utterly adore.
Though I've been meaning to TRY ACTUALLY PLAYING IT soon. So yeah. Whoo Terraria XD

You must mean Totalbiscuit's co-op LP of Terraria. I think that one is the best. Him and Jesse are the perfect match. I started watching TB from his beta Cataclysm videos. He hasn't been in WoW for some time and only Jesse has been part of the MoP beta according to their seventh Podcast I think.
There is another co-op LP of Terraria I watch that has its version of humor. At this second co-op, they were able to beat the Wall of Flesh recently but had absolutely no idea what hard mode had in store for them, especially when a couple of wyverns keeps visiting one of their homes and slaughters them and most of the previous enemies have gotten stronger. What I find funny is how one of them keeps trying to imitate the other due to his English accent.

FFFFFFFF-YES. SOMEONE ELSE WHO WATCHES THEIR TERRARIA SERIES! 8D God I love those two. So freakin' hilarious. XD (And oh, the stupid little inside jokes/memes they have.. I love 'em. XD)

Not to mention Jesse's different voice acting. Yep! I'd rather they keep their series alive than to try to complete the game. We all want their neverending run of antics and Jesse always blowing himself up with bombs. I can probably come up with a long list of things they've done I laughed at.

<3 TB and Jesse! They were the entire reason I started playing Terraria with my bf. (I fit more into the Jesse role. It was amusing.)

I wish I had a buddy to play Terraria with. I'd be more like TB but not as sarcastic.
