My two turtles.

I recently found a second baby turtle out in the middle of a street that I ended up saving and giving it a new home. The other that I've owned for nearly two years (whom of which I also rescued, not bought at a store) is doing great, although she does indeed need a bigger tank soon, but my dad won't allow me even with my now steadily growing amounts of money coming from my new job.

Anyway, here's some pics. The eldest turtle I've had is named Scooter and it was up until a few months ago I decided that it (or my dad refers to as a he) was a she after studying a few Youtube videos on how to determine the males from the females. Since Scooter is female, she will be a monster.

And here's my new baby. Haven't decided what to name it yet. Hopefully by the weekend or so, I might go to the pet store and buy a bigger tub for it since I know this fish bowl is not good enough. It's just been a temporary haven until I had the money to get something better. This baby is much smaller than Scooter was when I found her off the streets. The shell must be about as big as a half-dollar coin.

SQUEEEE! I love turtles! They are so adorable, and the baby one is just beyond precious. :3 <3 I saved a turtle from a road, too. I didn't keep it, though, I put him back near his pond a little ways away. Never saw a squished turtle on the road after that, so I assume he was okay.

Edit: Are those red-eared sliders? I admit I don't know much about turtle species, but the red is very striking.

Someone said to me in the forums I go to, if I found a baby turtle then likely there are a few more within the area. I didn't check again after my evening walk but I wouldn't doubt it. I do know there is a deep ditch that normally collects water that splits my neighborhood in half. I am pretty sure this is where the baby came from; Scooter came from another neighborhood but it too also had a source of water nearby. I am wondering if Houston has a turtle sanctuary somewhere because I am thinking of taking anymore extra baby turtles to there if I ever find more wandering around. With my new work, I won't be able to take care of more than two for now.

Yep, both of them are red ear sliders. The baby has gotten even more adorable whenever it begs for food; its legs becomes a blur while it's swimming excitedly.
