It might depend on what class you chose. My scoundrel feels much the same way you do, mainly because I have more of the original ranged attacks whereas scoundrels are more short to mid-range (I think). My sentinel started feeling pretty powerful not long after I learned to dual-wield. I also have an inquisitor and she is level 20-something and starting to feel pretty cool, now that I'm getting more skills. So yeah, I suppose it probably depends on what class you play.

i have no idea what you meant there.
When I played SWTOR I never did the space battles, I tried it once and frankly didnt want to do a rail shooter. Stick with the main story quests and do side quests too, you'll feel "powerful" soon enough.

Doing the space fight dailies does give you some additional money and experience (as well as fleet commendations which I think you can turn in at max level). Just like regular quests, however, they do eventually become "gray" when you've leveled up so far, and they don't give hardly any experience anymore, if at all. Just stick with the orange/yellow ones (and maybe green) and it should help a little.
