I'm interested in seeing it, but have not yet.

No American release yet. -_- I've been watching and waiting, but no dice. There is definitely an English dub, but it lacks the light, airy magic of the French. :/

Fuuuuuu. they tease! Disney and/or Pixar could make a fortune off of this movie!

Does Francoeur talk like normally or can he only sing?

Nope, not Disney or Pixar - this is a French film! :)

I believe he talks normally at some points, but I haven't seen anything beyond the trailers, so I could be wrong.

Hee, yeah, after Veph started that other thread way back when, I had that song stuck in my head for MONTHS!

But that's faded after it's taken so long to get here. -_- *checks release dates again* It's now turned up at TWO film festivals in the US, but still no general release, or even a limited one. :(

If they do release it in the USA it would most likely be the same dub as the english one. It most likely would not be worth it cost wise to redub it with Americans as they have a english dub but then again what happens with Ghibli films in the states it would not sell as well if they did that :/ So they most likely would be redubing it? Thats what they do with Ghibli films have a English and American dub.

I mean i'm going by what happens here but when ever they show a Ghibli film at a film festival here it's both in jappanese and with the english dub but then when it comes out in at the Movies it's the American dub. :/ So thats most likely whats happening you guys don't like other peoples accents!

It might be easyer getting a DvD of it. Then again that's just a pre-order of it

I found a torrent for it and watched it in raw French, so that's out there if you know where to look. I'm not fluent in French, but I remembered enough to get the gist of what was going on. It was a very cute movie. :)

Odd. Wonder why that is. Think he could be taught to speak?

Well, I was born in Ottawa, so I grew up with French immersion classes. I just didn't stick with it after we moved to BC. I still have a pretty good knowledge of the language, enough to recognize things, but overall it's rusty.

Francoeur doesn't mean Frank in English, however... it's more akin to "stout heart"

The French equivalent of Frank is François.

The film came out last February in wide release here in Québec. it's actually not showing anymore.

Huh...interesting. Guess they wanted to stay close to the name as possible.
