Crazy coincidence

STORY TIME!!

So last night I was flying around scholozar trollin for titanium and gas clouds. I was thinking about how I originally planned to ditch arctirus for loque or gondria if I ever had the chance. But eventually I got the chance a few months ago, but my friend was looking for a sb and I was becoming quite attached to my care bear, so I got her to come out and nab him as fast as her mount could drive her there. I never regretted it really and since I was sure id never see it again (that was my first time seeing him at all) I even let her have the name I picked out.
Seems I have goodish luck with spirit beasts. Around a month ago I found arc again, I whispered the only other hunter in the area and asked him if he was bm, he was ^.^ After a few flubbed and sabotaged attempts he got his blue bur.
And about two weeks ago I found gondie. Of course now I have a full stable of useful pets and I really love my Spirit bear too much to drop him for a cat I don't really like anymore... So I asked in guild chat if anyone had any BM hunters/BM offspec and my marks/sv hunter friend piped up and basically said hold on while I go ditch sv and ill tame him. Took him awhile but ZD is kinda deserted on my server and he was in a uncommonly trafficked area so he got gondi without a hitch. I can see why people volunteer at pet shelters, I like that warm and fuzzy feeling.

So anywayy.... last night I was flying around scholozar trollin for titanium and gas clouds. I was thinking about how I originally planned to ditch arctirus for loque... when I see him... in a well trafficked area... on a pvp server... so its either do or die...
yeah I did..
I had to make a snap decision on which pet to drop. Jim is my worm tank so hes out, Sketchy is my lovable care bear so hes out, Argyria is my obligatory wolf so hes out.
So its between my strider clutchmother Saunders and my pvp viper named Dranosh (which means heart of Draenor in orcish)
I pvp more than I raid and when I raid I normally just use my wolf (except on deathbringer saurfang) so poor old Saunders got the booterang.

My tank friend was kinda broken up when I told him that I dropped saunders. But I promised him that as soon as the stable changes went live I would Retame him.

Soooo now I have a minor delimma, I always use my spirit beast when I pvp as bm but I didn't want to commit sketchys spec just to pvp. Since I can devote a SB to pvp and one to pve I have to decide which goes where. But thats a harder decision than i originally thought. Both have their pros and cons.

Lazer cat pros:
  • Looks pimp
Cats just feel right with a hunter
    Has a beautiful roar
Spots can act as natural camo and break up his outline when prowling
Lazer cat cons:
  • He is the most recognizable spirit beast
Appears as a block to players without wrath (last time I checked)
Care bear pros:
  • Near invisible when under the effects of BW without prowl
A little bit harder to see while prowling
Most people think hes a bear not an sb (and he can be mistaken for a shamans wolf pets during crazy busy pvp)
Care bear cons:
  • No spechul roar :C
Bright colors of his fur stand out when hes not prowling
Seems to have a bigger hitbox
Most of the pros and cons are cosmetic really... Both have the same limitations.
Note that when I mean harder to see during prowl I mean when someone spots it while its prowling.

So yeeeeh any opinions on the matter would be very much appreciated (along with some proper pvp specs for pets too with sugar on top :D)

Mm, I'm pretty sure any players no matter which expansion they do or don't have can see all the game models. That may have been a one time fluke that happened, but don't worry - he won't just be a block to people without WotLK. :)

As for your decision, I find I'm leaning towards Arcturis for your PvP pet. I think it's more unique to bring him, and as you said he's so hard to see sometimes I think he'd be perfect. ^^

oooh ty veph /heart

A few of the guildies were leaning towards arc as pvp as well.

One moar con I just remember for loque is that his roar is louder and carrys a fair distance. Its not as bad as a corehounds roar for distance though. Arcs sound is the same as any old bear.... I should probably move that to pros now that I think about it.

Nope!

Loque's model only is downloaded into your game when you install wrath, so he shows as a box if you don't have wrath. I got a picture of this before I had wrath.

I never got to see the box fight though. I'm sure that would be hilarious. xD

Really? o.o I'm shocked. I would have assumed that, even without Wrath, Blizzard would have added new creatures and character models in a patch or something. How do people see Death Knights and such then? >_>

I wonder if it's only on certain servers or maybe just with that specific SB. I just upgraded to Wrath about a month ago and was able to view Arcturis in full before that. He's the only SB I've seen though. Haven't ever seen the box.

Wrath downloads files that should only be seen in northrend for patch 3.0. However, Loque's model is the exception since he can be tamed and taken anywhere. It should only work with him, because other spirit beasts where added in later patches not with the expansion.

I'd love to see a video of someone fighting a boss with a checkered box for a pet. That would be rad. Beware of the killer box that roars like a lion.

A bit of an odd coincidence also. Last night while in stormwind another hunter humored me and was showing me his SB's. My friend who doesn't have Lich could see Loque and the other beasties perfectly fine and as a cat, wolf and bear. So I am not sure the glitch is system wide I guess. I even asked him if he could see Loque and he said "are you talking that cat with the glowing eyes and mouth?". This was on the Argent Dawn server.
Boxcat would be awesome though!

Maybe see that cube thing in different colors other than blue, even though I like blue.

If you use an outdeated modelhack, new models will show up as boxes. This can also be accomplished by removing the viewing info for a particular model. For example, with my gnome modelhack, mobs in ICC show as cubes. Small cubes. Marrowgar cube is hard to target.
