With the comming of version 4 of D&D, a Friend of mine is wanting to see about nabbing some v3.something D&D books and seeing about getting something started.
Now the last time I played D&D was a long time ago, and most of the stuff was dumbed down so that me and my sister would understand it (I think I was 8 or something) So now I want to make a character, but I dont really know much in the way of lore, and it seems to differ each version...
What I want to Create is a Dragonborn Cleric (read on some D&D site that that was possible) But I dont really know how to go about...making her, or her back story...
Anyone play D&D that can provide some info?

Will you be playing 3.5 or 4.0?

probably starting with 3.5 to get into it, then see how it goes from there.

It would depend on your DM. In 3.5, Dragonborn were first presented as a transformation any race could undergo to get dragon characteristics, and later as a true draconic race descended from Dragons.
I've only played a Dragonborn in 4th, but I think Dragons of Eberron is a 3.5 Eberron source book where they are a draconic race, and Races of the Dragon is a 3.5 source book where they are a created race.

My DM is a layed back guy that would give me the freedom to do whatever I wanted with my character (within reason of course)
There does seem to be conflicting info about the origin of dragonborn. The guy who would be DM said that he heard that dragonborn were the children of dragons that took humanoid shape and mingled with mortals. Seemed rather interesting.
I want to create a Healer Cleric, dragonborn...but without having an actual book, I can't seem to really find much info on say Characteristic traits (are they easily angered? Aggresive or laid back? etc). Defining visual traits...do they have tails or not? wings or breath weapons? How big are they, or does it depend on what race they are mingled with?
As for the cleric class itself, I seem to only really run into offensive type information...cant seem to find much about the healing aspect of the class.
Last time I played D&D was a long time ago and I was either a generic human warrior or a generic woodelf ranger...once I was an escentric wizard that ended up killing everyone with a bad spell roll...

Thanks for all the imput you two

sorry It took so long to reply, busy busy with an extra kid now (yay for lil nephews...and kids learning to share, lol) Definitly going to take a bit of time for me to go over all the info and get stuff worked out and formed into a coharent character/class.
