I suck at WoW so I play for myself

Im not sure when it happened, maybe I just never knew or cared. But more or less I suck at WoW. Sure I can get my guy to a higher level but I have nothing to really contribute to a party. My DPS allways sucks, I don't know anything about rotations, or socketed gear or basically anything except how to camp and tame pets. That's why I am really hoping for allot of new kinds of pets and maybe Hydras. Because that's pretty much all that keeps me in the game and if we don't get anything that I consider worthy to keep playing for..I probably will quit.

If playing WoW in that manner is what is fun for you, then you are not doing it wrong. If you're enjoying yourself, there is no reason to give it up imo.

Then make your WoW challenge learning the game if you want.
This should help A LOT:

I suck at WoW too. I know a lot of stuff but I'm just not very good. I know a good rotation but forget to Kill Command often...I have my gear socketed and mostly enchanted but I'd rather put money on pets and mounts than a slightly better bracers. I don't die often in normal situations but I'm not good at soloing high-level content (I've routinely soloed MGT and Skadi, recently did solo normal Slabhide in Stonecore but only on 3rd try, failed at Altairus in Vortex Pinnacle).
I mostly do dailies and archeology, and that's just fine. I'm a quester, and a tamer. I don't go to heroics often, even if I perform ok most of the time. I don't raid or PVP. I on the other hand have no intention of quitting, but I do take breaks. I buy gamecards, so it's usually two monts in game and one month out.

Its rather easy to improve yourself a little just by reading some simple stickies and guides that are floating around.
Learning a bit might make your soloing experience go easier as well!

If you are enjoying yourself, as others have said, then who cares.
If you are enjoying yourself, then why try to fit the definition of what someone ELSE thinks is "a good player"?
My very first dungeon ever in a group, there was a vote to kick me.
It would seem that I was not equipped "high enough level" (Culling of Stratholme).
I got harassed throughout the entire dungeon (the kick didn't work).
Funny thing is, I didn't die, I got the dragon mount, I got experience from it.
So I wasn't "uber geared" with raid stuff and the latest enchants and the very best gems (actually, at that point I had no gems because none of my gear had slots).
But I did my part.
And other than the a$$hats in that group harassing me constantly, I actually enjoyed myself. not enough to actually join many other random groups, mind you.
There's a certain amount of objective "bad" involved here. Obviously if you're running around in caster cloth gear as a Hunter, then, well, you aren't really playing up to the very easy to achieve basic potential of your class. (unless of course you are doing so as some form of personal challenge!)
Do YOU think you're a "bad player"?
By which definition? Your own? or someone else's?

One thing that should be mentioned (hope I'm not repeating myself) is to get in with a good and helpful guild. Seriously. They can teach you if you want to learn. Take you through dungeon runs to aid in obtaining the experience without the hassle etc.

To let you know I rather play with a friendly sub-par player than a skilled player that belittles others.

The 4 main buttons you will use will be serpent sting (after applying the hunter mark), arcane shot till your out of focus. Then use use cobra shot (if your BM) to replenish your focus. You should always save focus for kill command, and it should take priority over arcane shot. Kill shot will take priority over any other shot. Make any sense ?

If you enjoy playing the way you do, I'd say you should just continue to do so.
But if you want to do dungeons, and things you may have to research a little on how to improve things.
I know how you feel about the gemming and enchanting part. It's been very hard for me too, and still is. I've found some nice pages that explains it, but I'm still lost when it comes to all that capping and reforging.
So I'm not doing any other dungeons than normal ones, cause I know I'll be boo'ed out if I join herorics.
One addon that is really helpful is Spellflash. It flashes the abilities you need to use to get your DPS up. It has really helped me a lot on the classes I don't play often.

askmrrobot.com wil very easily tell you what gems, enchants and reforges you will need based on your primary spec, and what your goal of gear type is.
incredibly easy to use!

It sounds to me as though you feel that gear optimization and rotations are just more bother than they're worth, and so you focus on pet collecting because it's simpler and more fun for you. E.g. correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this post is so much about wanting to be better on the DPS meters as kind of a general hope for enough new pets in MoP to keep you interested.
Which is absolutely fine - personally I suck at PVP. Not because I
couldn't be good at it; like anything else it's just a matter of research, trial and error (and most of all time investment), but because in my personal view it's just too much bother - why fill up my head with all these strategies, tricks and etc about something that I just don't find fun - win or lose?

This exactly. I play for the pets, like some play for the PvP. If someone is bored with the PvP and if thats why they play, they stop. Same thing with me. If we don't get new enjoyable pets, its hard for me to want to keep playing.

we all play for different reasons, and for different personal outcomes.
personally, I just do my own thing. I quest, I run lower-level dungeons, I drag some of my alts through dungeons, and every once in a while I'll group with a friend or two to just dick around in the game (mostly doing easy dungeons).
I'm on a reputation kick these days, and that grind is actually what is keeping me happy in the game.
The minute Blizzard changes the game to where I really need to group to achieve anything, I will switch to another game.
I don't mind grouping every once in a blue moon, but if its compulsory, it will be the end of WoW for me.
So, never let anyone tell you that you're "not playing it right".
Play for what pleases you.
