Herald of the Titans: Feat of Strength (alliance US)

Unread post by Royi »

This is my goal, sort of "before panda comes" type of goal:

http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=3316 ... the-titans
Defeat Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar.

Copied quote from wowhead:
Even though this is now a Feat of Strength, it is still obtainable in patch 4.2 so long as all raid members are level 80 (proof: Aelobin - The Maelstrom (EU)).

Here's some useful information for those who are attempting this in Cataclysm:
■The key is no longer required to open the door to his room
■The 1 hour time limit has been removed, so you can fight him for as long as you like
■Armour items must be ilvl 226 or less, and weapon items (mainhand/offhand/ranged) must be ilvl 232 or less
■It doesn't matter where your gear is from (the 219s from ICC 5mans or ToC5hc are fine)
■Epic gems are allowed
■Reforging is allowed
■Heirlooms are allowed (although you shouldn't really be using them)
■The cataclysm leg enchants, profession enchants and Savage Armor Kits are all allowed
■You can use Cataclysm consumables (flasks/potions/food)
The hardest part about getting this title is finding 10 level 80s with the correct level of gear (or time/motivation to farm the gear). If you're organising a group, it's a great advantage to have a shadow priest to take all the Big Bangs (with Glyph of Dispersion). Healing isn't too hard with 2 tank healers (especially if one is a pally and/or disc priest) and if the collapsing stars are killed at safe times. Average DPS needs to be around 5k dps each, which is a very easy benchmark to reach with consumables/buffs/reforging.
Basically to start out for myself I'm going to be farming alot of the regular ICC 5 mans (ilvl 219 gear) and ICC heroic for the ilvl 232 weapon / wand etc. Doing 7 random Cata dungeons will net good justice points to pick up the tier 8.5 tokens as well.

With the addition of account-wide achievements, I feel that this is the best time to try and get something like this done (i'm not 100% this would be account wide, but even so it would be fun)

Image

If anyone is interested to join my quest, I'm welcoming anyone. This would be done on US / Alliance as well, any server (realid / battletag groupings).

The List:
Vi ~ Llane ~ Shaman ~ DPS (Royi)
Bryndis ~ Dethecus ~ Warrior ~ Tank (Kalliope)
Megabucks ~ Arthas ~ Priest ~ Heals I think? (Meggers)
Gimlion ~ (Somethingorather)
Worba ~ Death Knight (Worba)

It looks like I have 3-5 people from Open raid as well. This should get going decently quick I hope :)

Possibles (waiting till I get a confirmed interest / info on character):
Gimilon Brother's Rogue?
Galaxy hunter?
Spiritbinder Rogue?

Feel free to add me to battletag if you're wanting to join us in this quest. Royi#1664
If you do not have battletag access yet, I'll happily do REALID (just pm me)

I know it can be done through REALID etc. I'm currently browsing twinkinfo.com for possible raid groups

I know it can be done via that as well, just saying that hoping by using it I can actually do it. I doubt I'd be able to do it with just people on my server.

I'm currently leveling a mage for this (73), hopefully will then jump on those level 80 raids lead by 85's to help get some gear for it

I regularly see Openraid groups for Herald, you might want to have a look :)
openraid.eu and openraid.us

I think it's a really fun achievement to do, good luck finding all the pieces!

Wow i didnt know that place existed! Awesome! That motivates me to get going on gearing up my mage

Or heck even xferring my old shaman who I kind of want to do.

I like that site alot Sam, thanks for sharing it. It seems much nicer than twinkinfo ~ At twinkinfo you get a lot of elitists with huge egos

I have a friend who is working on a mage for this. He asked if I wanted in, but sadly because I'm so focused on leveling alts to 85, my "candidates" are getting thinner and thinner.
I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't have such a FoS. None of my characters have The Insane yet, and back in BC I just missed getting that Champion of the Naaru title (My guild back then was really cliquey about who they ran Heroics with :/ ).
I somehow have Grand Crusader, though that's just because my server is so bad that until halfway through Cata (via a PuG no less), no one had bothered to do it.

I have a prot paladin in her 70s and a warlock who is 74. If I worked hard on making them 80, perhaps I'd be interested. They're both Horde-side.

Haven't really been playing them lately, though...

My DK is almost 75, I could work on leveling him, and my brothers Rogue is 80 from the scroll of resurrection, he could probably help as well. Both US/Alliance toons.

If you are on the US servers and horde, I can help you with this. I got this on my 80 hunter not long ago :) (see my signature)

The achievement is pretty easy, you can do it with Justice/Naxx gear.
If you want an idea of what is Best in Slot for a hunter, heres the wowhead profile I created for it awhile ago.

I have a level 80 resto shaman (horde) that I haven't played since wrath, but she's in ToC/ICC gear. I would have to downgrade most of her gear first but if their is enough interest I'll try.

My undead hunter, Spiders, is experience locked at level 80, so if we pull a group together I could see if I could gear her up appropriately.

Looks like some interest for horde side... :) Sadly, my best alliance toon is 81, and the next one down is in his 60s...

I told my boyfriend, but the closest toon he seems to have is a 70 holy/shadow priest, so if he helped, he'd work on/bring that. Shadow priests are apparently useful...?

I'd hate to put in the effort to level my warlock just to find that we need a tank or a healer, so I think I'm going to officially offer my tauren paladin up for this. She's Prot, dual-specced Holy, and can sub that for Ret if we'd prefer a dps.

I don't know how hard tanking this would be. I have a bear druid I've racked up some good amount of raid tanking experience with, but since I'm way more used to being a hunter, tanking (mostly moving the boss and positioning) tends to stress me out. I'm still willing to do it though. :)

Well, time to work on leveling!

Really easy to tank, the biggest issue will finding someone to manage the collapsing stars and eating the big bang. If anyone takes a hunter, you're usually stuck on the stars, spriests/pally for big bang.

Oh wow, It seems that there is indeed a interest. I don't know how easy it would be to coordinate a perfect time for this. It would likely take a couple weeks to gear up appropriately (mainly badge gear / ICC 5 man normal gear probably the easiest avenue)

I don't have anything horde side, but if the interest is there for this and hordeside would be the likely avenue , I'd maybe ponder moving my ally toon to horde:

Alas though right now my toon thats 80 is ally: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/e ... zco/simple

I'm probably going to keep it ally for this type of recruitment

Oh, alliance? I have a few toons still at 80. Awesome! :D I'd have to downgrade gear, sure, but I have options. Got my warrior, dk, and mage. It's been ages since I've played any of them, but they are there. I'd have to remember how to tank on the warrior/dk, but the mage I remember how to play - and I know she's at least been in Uld.

I think you don't need the key anymore to reach Algalon, so in theory you would just have to kill Flame Leviathan and XT (i think)

Gearwise, running ICC 5 mans would net 219 gear and then there are a few 226 pieces from Justice Points (best way to farm justice i think might be Random Cata-dungeons)

Or else we can get farming groups to have level 85s take the lower level 80s through Uld 10 man (nets 219 gear as well)

I think it wouldn't be too terribly hard to gear up a bit. I believe Cata enchants will help as well
