Lesser Used Pets Appreciation "Challenge"

Unread post by Miacoda »

So, I spent this day for my pets that I hardly ever use. I have a few that I adore, but I just... don't use them enough! So today I got up, logged on, and was bored out of my mind... so I decided to give these pets some attention, and I'd like to share what I discovered while doing this, and perhaps if you're in a similar situation, you could try it yourself. :)

General Guidelines:
  • 1. Must be pets that aren't used as much as you maybe think they should be.
    2. Activity should be something that is considered "content" such as PVP or a dungeon/raid of your choice. It doesn't really have to be, but I find it's a really good way to learn/discover. It really leaves a mark.
    3. Try to learn something new about your pet(s).
    4. Find a good quality about your pet(s).
    5. Screenshots of your adventure are applauded but not required by any means!
    6. Try to have fun!!
First up was Spazzranache. Now, he's for sure turning into a mini pet in MoP, so I'm mostly using him more just to get him some exercise until then. It was fun though. :) He murdered things with his beak and claws and I went all matchy matchy with my Mulgore Hatchling and Swift Lovebird.
I didn't really learn anything knew about Spazzy. I do think he's be very happy as a mini pet, though. His good quality is he makes me smile. He's just a silly little goofball. <3

Next up was Thoridal, my blue dragonhawk. I... did not get any screenshots of his dungeon run, because I didn't really know I would eventually be posting about all of this... so I'll just add a recent screenshot of him. :)
Thoridal is another pet that will turn into a mini pet. And really, I think that's fitting for him. I think he's sort of tired out of fighting bads, and just wants to relax. Sort of like he's retired, but he's still young. He's just not that much of a fighter. His good quality is that he's a lover. He also brings luck during Sunwell raids. :) And lord, is he ever beautiful. <3 I adore his colors. :)
I went all matchy before his run with Blue Dragonhawk pet and mount, so here's a recent screenshot of the three tonight. :)

After Thoridal, I was going to run with Karoma, but I got Well of Eternity, which is what I got with her the other day, so I figured maybe she'd want to run something different. So I pulled out Ankha.
I love ankha, she's absolutely gorgeous, and I learned that I have more love for her than I thought I did. I just love how bright she is. I see her as more shy and reserved, and ironically her appearance is bright and just calls for attention. :P Her good quality is that she's gentle and quiet, and absolutely gorgeous. I loved watching her during the dungeon, and how different angles make her even more bright and fantastic.
And then I caught a screenshot of her with this spell effect, and my mind was blown.
Image

Next up was Gondria, my first spirit beast. Gondria and I have a lot of memories together, and I thought I was going to release her for Mists of Pandaria, but this run made me think yet again. So I learned that I really do not want to part with her. She's perfectly happy being in the stable, and when she's not? There's no bitterness toward me. She's just perfectly happy to be by my side. So I discovered that her good quality is loyalty. I've gone months without spending time with her, but she's perfectly okay with that. I imagine that she finds something fun to do when she's not with me. Perhaps chasing butterflies. She's a very happy cat, that's for sure. And she may really stick out in my stable, but that's fine. For now, she's staying. :)

Then Karoma got her turn again! And... oh, hey, we got Well of Eternity again.. so I gave up and figured she just really liked this place, which irked my a bit, because I hate it. XD It's such a long dungeon, but perhaps that's why she likes it. I discovered a day or two ago that she doesn't like being in the stable. Her good quality is that she is proud. I still plan on parting with Karoma for MoP, but I'm going to make sure she gets a lot of time with me before that happens. She seems to really like running content. :)
She also look pretty in water. ;)

Then it was Kirix's turn.. oh Kirix. I love him, I really do, but I learned that I'm forcing myself to keep him. His good qualities are that he's a badass, and he matches my green theme really well... but I just don't do well with WoW spiders. I don't see them as having the personality I want them to have when tamed. Wild Kirix? Oh HELL yes, he has loads of personality. Tamed Kirix...? Not so much. It's like when I tamed ihm, he lost some of his badassery. =/ So... with reluctance... I decided that Kirix will be released in MoP. I don't like it... but he's too tame as a hunter pet. And I really do love him... but I'm holding him back. Perhaps one day I can tame him again on another character that will be able to give him what he needs. Mia cannot do that though. :( I'll just have to make sure I visit him every day (because he's always up on my server )
Image

Loque's run was... really uneventful. I didn't get a screenshot during the run, just one before it when he emoted at my boyfriend. I owe him another run, hopefully something fun will happen. Heck, maybe I'll let him prey on Horde in some PvP. :P But I certainly didn't learn anything knew about him. He does really bring back memories of his tame whenever I have him out. Once we get a spirit beast appreciation thread from Wassa you'll learn about it. It was great fun. :)

Mirth bird! Mordecai, my green carrion bird. I really love him, he has loads of personality. I thought my bond with him was diminishing, but I learned that I still love him as much as I did earlier, I just need to spend more time with him. :) His good qualities are that he's really happy and just a fun guy. :D He also matches well with some places in Well of Eternity! ^.^
And... I love taking screenshots of him, it seems. :P He just makes cute little poses.
And he's Mirth Bird, so of course he showed the worth his mirth. <3

And last but not least, Madexx! Oh lord, this scorpid! I don't know how I didn't know this before, but I learned that he is SOOOOOO happy-go-lucky! He loved to wave his claws in the air and emote happy friendly emotes. He was just... oh so fun to spend time with. So of course, his good qualities are that he's friendly and SO HAPPY. Like, he's OOZING happiness!

BOW DOWN TO HOLY SCORPION. Yeah. He was so happy he randomly sprouted a happy halo.

"Yaaaaay it's DARK!!!"
Image

So that was my adventure today. I thought I'd share and maybe give some people something to do if they're bored! :D I'd love to hear others stories, and maybe learn about some pets that I don't hear about too much. ^.^

Mannnnn, that's awesome! xD I love scorpids. Perseus won me over in TB when he was all:

Image
"Yaaaaay blood!"

I've actually been doing something similar lately with my pets. I've been making up for lost time with Ursa on the beta. We've never really been in trouble, per se, with our bond, but there was a time when I was more inclined to have Theseus around than him, so I felt guilty. -_-

Quoth Perseus the Intermission Scorpid:
Image
And she was all "Yaaaaay devilsaurs!"

It was just a phase! Mostly brought on by my being unable to bring Ursa everywhere after leveling. -_-

Anyway.

My post here recaps my adventures with Cerberus and Pygmalion. Hippomenes....well, he's been inching his way back in, as I wrote about here.

Having gone through my stable to prune, I've basically been focusing on the borderline pets......obligatory STARE at Leo here (even though I love him, it's completely unwilling! so he's somewhat exasperating). I've touched base with all my exotics, just to make sure they're staying (most are). Oddly enough, the pets I've unfortunately been neglecting the most are my main pets.

Orpheus gets to go everywhere, but the others got sidelined. Ursa only got to come out for leveling and instances (and not even all the leveling, since I'm on a PvP server). Atalanta got to raid from BC until wolves took over Wrath. Cerberus changed forms for a while, but it's Hector who stole my heart in Wrath, even though I'm pretty sure Cerberus logged more actual combat time. Cassandra was pretty much my main raiding pet in Cata, though my casual status meant that I did get to bring pretty much everyone at some point or other (except Ursa and Orpheus really :| ).

And this is why stampede makes me so happy. :D It's not exactly bonding time, but just knowing that they're with me in my active stable brings me great joy.

Heh what a good idea :D

I loove the screenie of your glowing kitty.. just lovely!!

My first lesser used pets is Tubog.. aka Krush

Tbh i only keep him cause i chased him for 8 months...

I recall i was very excited about taming him but.. tbh i had more bond with my black devilsaur then with Tuborg.

Ohh well

I brought Tuborg with me to LFR so he could breathe alittle air again.

learned anything new? .. well not really cept that he doenst bring luck to win the polearm :P Ever since lfr was introduced i ran once a week on Tårnfalk and still no polearm, no head and no shoulders ><

I got room in my stables for now so he stays.. but prolly not gonna use him much .. just can´t release him cause it took me 8months to get him

screenies:

Trying to chill out in Sw afterwards ... not even a single roar... or a hint of personality.. he just stands and stair blankly into the air

I remember my old black dino was headbumping me.. or so i seam to recall.. But not this lad. I think he miss Sholari Bassing.

I have tried to retame a black dino but its just not the same as the one i released.. It sounds stupid i know but to me NomNom (name of my black dino back then )got so sad that i released him that he left wow :P

You could always ask a GM to restore your black devilsaur. I know how it feels though, being reluctant to release a pet you've spent so much time looking for. >.< I've had to do it myself a few times. But in the end I always think, "Am I really happy with this pet? Is the pet happy?" and not to mention that GMs can easily restore released pets. And I guarantee you it's the EXACT pet! I had my lone hunter wolf with sword in face restored and he was exactly the way I left him! Even his talents were the same (had to fill the rest in). So you could always try To get your black devilsaur restored, and if that doesn't work out, you can also have the green restored if you release him and want him back. :)

I feel like I'm rambling, hahaha. :P

heh i guess i could ask for NomNom to be restored.. problem is i dont recall where i tamed him and when.. and i have had several black dinos since then all named NomNom.

But for now Tuborg stays.. i know im not happy with him and the other way around but just cant get my self to release him.

Second up is Scuttlebut the spiritcrab...

I just wanted some sort of spiritcrab to test the dps out compared to a cat and the crab was the only one up so..

No real bond with him.

though today i found out that he has a fondness for pumpkins.

3rd up is Sahara.......

I am really trying to bond with her.. even have a trasnmorg outfit build up around her..

But still... not sure she will stay.

Dont think the worms are really good tanks cause they loose agro when the dig them self down :P

She might see more use in MoP where i can spec her ferocity though she might be reskinned at some point.

Did not learn anything new today.. the range attack still bugs me as a tanking pet :/

forgot to take screenies at the dungeon but here are some afterwards

3rd up is skyrim.

I alrdy have a bird of prey so Skyrim doenst see much use. Maybe he will but I´m not sure. I won´t have problems with giving him up at some point though

Image

but then again... Seagulls are cute :)

Learned nothing new today.. not sure if the less anoying flap flap from the seagul is a good or bad thing.. Really love my Fagin (black druid crow) and he flaps alot :P

Cool screenies!

Just to clarify - on the above, you mean "pets that are in your stable but which you don't use alot", not "pets that no one uses much", right? :)
