Pandaria is THAT big?

The new world map:
Mists or no, how does a continent be THAT big and somebody not accidentally run into it before now? Especially when ships had an enormous maelstrom to circumvent. Were they special, magical teleporting mists?
Maybe they are

I have a theory there's an entire southern hemisphere hidden that way, which explains why the southernmost point of the world seems to be in the tropics

Ooooh, so exciting to see it on the map!
I imagine the mists maybe had some sort of deterrent around them too...if a ship were headed directly toward it they would suddenly find themselves on another course...or it's like a reverse Bermuda triangle...instead of getting sucked in, you just get deflected off of it...or something.

Considering the speed at which they cross that ocean, magic is surely involved.... On the other hand, the trolls knew about it, so you wonder where that knowledge was lost along the way.
Panderia does kind of fill out that map. Next expansion goes "off world" again.

I'm sure I'm over thinking this but Pandaria is in the same spot as Northrend yet is all ice and snow and panda land is not all ice and snow.
Haha okay I did not see Wains theory on the southern hemisphere bit

makes more sence. Just hope theres not a continent full of jungle and aztec lizard men. If you get the refernce. Hope it don't start with a L

I'm pretty sure giant turtles don't look like that. O_o

Oh, I was hoping for a big, red, hot and dry continent with all kinds of weird savage marsupials, and every creature is deadly and venomous.
And right next to it a pair of lush green islands with harmless wildlife, called the "Land of Misplaced Vowels"

Pandaria isn't the giant turtle. That's the starting area, the Wandering Isle. They're two separate islands.

Turtles are slow and stubborn. Maybe they hoist the giant sails when they need to get somewhere in a hurry

I'm going to simply assume that Pandaria doesn't actually sit in that exact location, or it would have been found thousands of years ago. Not to mention, it's kinda on top of where Kezan and a whole list of other islands should be...

Oh, I thought he was referring to the drawing of the dragon ship in the corner, right next to it

Haha "Land of Misplaced Vowels" I'm going to have to borrow that one!.

Some of the sheep aren't deadly.

If that's based on the RPG, it's already been stated by Blizzard that the RPG isn't...quite canon. It's kind of an 'it works until we give you the real facts' thing.
Personally, I'm not sure Azeroth is constrained to the same laws of nature as Earth. North end = snow! South end = tropical! I'm not sure there's a way to hide an entire half of a planet...even Pandaria was known of, once upon a time. I'm leaning towards the 'magic mist' theory, especially since I think they've already been called that before.

On the live map there's a kind of lozenge-shaped landmass sitting about where Pandaria is on the beta map, but it's much smaller than Pandaria.
I don't believe it's Kezan, though. Kezan isn't explicitly labelled on the world map, you have to zoom into the Maelstrom map to see it (and the Lost Isles). The map gives the impression that Kezan is closer to the Maelstrom than that landmass. Kezan and the Lost Isles are also a very different shape to that land mass.
I wonder what it was intended to be. Assuming the beta map is final then it's been erased from WoW lore anyway

It'd make sense for it to have been tucked between Pandaria and the Maelstrom somewhere, I think. 'Have been' considering, well, yeah...it's destroyed nowadays.

Strange how they changed the old map. It doesn't look like the map in the game right now. (Only minor changes though).
Gonna be strange not having an 'o' on the Orgrimmar area anymore.

Not to be inappropriate... But has anyone else ever noticed the shape of the Thousand Needles Flooding on the world map? I just noticed it, and It cannot be unseen.

I would of liked a "southrend" kind of thing going on. That would of been cool. I dunno make it not the same as northrend. That would be easyly done too.
