Inspired from an unfinished chain I ran into. How many unfinished chains have you run into? I'm going to make a list of them.

The main quest that has bugged me for years, is the
Uldaman disc quest. It eventually sends you all the way to Tanaris and you have to dodge elites to talk to a hologram there and everything, but you get nothing out of it (since the instance was never opened). You just give the discs back to the NPC and they promise to contact you later. It's been five years since then, lol.
I'll bet that in Cataclysm, you won't even need the discs from that chain to get in, either. So me doing that chain will have been completely pointless.
I know I've done other 'unfinished' chains, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. They're always disappointing, because you expect a resolution but there isn't any.

I know a chain quest that disappointed me was the Rogue quest leading to Ravenholdt. It's around level 30; you collect badges to get friendly with them, the last line of the turn-in leads you to believe there is more to do, and then nothing. Till you get another similar questline at like, level 60. Way to drop the ball on that one Blizz...

Well since they said they were redoing the quests in cata, hopefully we don't have any more unfinished. Still annoying. -_-

There used to be a questline in Dustwallow that just sort of dead ended. It was the whole smiling Jim one, where you'd go and collect the clues at the inn, and then.....nothing. For about three, maybe four years, it just ended, no resolution what so ever. Back then that always bugged me.

Haha, I literally just had some fun doing that Crew Under Fire quest last night. I had never heard of it prior, and so thought it very strange that upon completion the Captain tells you to perhaps chat to some of the crew members... and then you can't talk to any of them and she offers up the same quest.
I enjoy that it has been unfinished for something like 4 years now according to some of the posts left on the Thottbot article that was linked.
I thought I had issues with procrastination.
I agree regarding the Shady Rest Inn quest line too. I remember being sort of sucked into it the first time I played through Dustwallow. It seemed so neat that I was being sent to put together this murder mystery rather than just "Hey, some Murlocs stole this thing from me, go kill 400 and hope that it drops and I'll give you some coinage." Then there was pretty much no resolution, until they just decided to blame it on the grimtotem, which did not feel a whole lot better.

There is a quest in Sunken Temple which eventually leads you to an elf in swamp of sorrows...it seemed really interesting especially since your carrying a green dragonflights soul in a useless trinket, but I followed the quest line as far as it went to find out it was never finished..I was so disappointed

Also now that I know what that trinket is I cant destroy it..I feel bad lol ><

I did that quest on like 3 or 4 alts, before I finally figured out that the Grimtotem must have been behind the burning. When Dustwallow was redesigned and that was shown to be true via the new quests, I kinda felt smart for having figured it out beforehand.

I remember one quest that takes you from Silithus to Ironforge and then to Moonglade. I only ever got it on my druid, but once you get to Moonglade the dwarf tells you that you need to speak to his colleage and then Poof! no more quest line!

This one was continued:
The inspector is now at the ruins and will send you against a (newly implemented

) Tauren camp.

Unless you're a druid. I just prowled past all of them, did the deed with the discs, and prowled out. Never bothered doing it with my hunter. lol

I agree. Ravenholdt had soooo much potential and they just did nothing with it. You get this cool quest lead-in to get inducted into an awesome secret Rogue society and then...wait, nothing? Oh, no...a little ways down the line you just want me to fetch lockboxes for you to train newbs with? Don't you have lackeys for that sorta thing?
There's a lot of cool chars there who could give some interesting quests, but nothing

Nowadays you don't even get SENT to Ravenholdt anymore, since you just kinda automatically learn detect trap instead of earning it
