My signature is dedicated to the beautiful guy with the Huffington Post Article and the Memorial Thread in Real Life Pets. I though, do not want a hunter pet. I want a baby Tortoise named Clonesome George, the clone of Lonesome George <3.

If all else fails you can always tame a regular turtle. Is there any form of smooth shelled turtle that exists other than the minipets?

I think the closest tamable pet in appearance to George would probably be Ghamoo'ra from Blackfathom Deeps...and he's an awesome turtle all on his own. Unfortunately, other than the dragon turtles in MoP, I don't think any other tamable turtle has a smooth shell. The minipet does, but you'll have to wait till Children's Week to pick him up.

There is the Darkmoon Turtle, which is orange and gray, and another turtle minipet being introduced, the Turquoise Turtle, which looks like this.

^ I agree with Slap. We need more spirit beast variety, and it seems the kinda snuck in tribute Blizz would do.

Ukhloc was also made as a memorial to a deceased IRL Albino Gorilla, so I don't think it's that far fetched.
