Goodbye Caveman...

My bearded dragon, Caveman, passed away.. We named him after Stanley Yelnats' nickname from the book/movie "Holes." I loved the book, and when the movie came out, I noticed they used bearded dragons for the yellow-spotted lizards. So, one day my mom and I were at a reptile show and we decided to get one from one of the breeders there. We didn't tell my dad, so we snuck him in. He was a birthday gift. I can't remember how long we've had him, but he lived a long life.
I feel guilty. I wish I could have given him a bigger tank. He had the minimum size for beardies but I just felt he would have been a lot happier in a bigger tank. They're just so expensive.. =/
He was such a sweet lizard. I just love how bearded dragons give eye contact, and he was no different. He'd follow my face no matter where I moved, and he also was very interested din my cat. I'd take him out sometimes and my cat would come along and start poking him with a paw, then Caveman would swing around and start chasing my cat.
I remember another time when I had some friends over for my birthday, and one of my friends was just absolutely in love with him, and he seemed t know it. He just stared up at her and even crawled into her lap.

He was such a sweet lizard... and I miss him already.

Image This is just a picture of his eyes. I loved his eyes, they were just so pretty.

Him on the couch looking back at me and I get a picture.

And this is a little blurry, but sometimes we'd give me a "bath" and just put him in some shallow warm water with a light over him and he'd just chill there. He seemed to enjoy it.

Oh I'm really sorry :( Small tank or big, it sounds like you looked after him very well and gave him a good life.

*hugs*

Thanks Wain

Here are some more pictures. We looked back at the photo dates, and we got him in 2003, so he was around 9 years old. The average life span of a beardie can be 7-10 years... so I'm comforted by that. He was an old man lizard and I really miss him, but he lived a good life.

Baby Caveman. :) (he had a little stubby tail-end. One of his siblings bit it off when he was smaller. x.x)

My cat Tucker, being very curious about him.

He was beautiful and it sounds like he did well to reach 9 :)
