What Would You Like to See?: Cosmetic Effects & Pet Ability

So, I struck up a conversation with a friend of mine on our PvP server. We were busy camping a paladin when he brought up a conversation I'd had in guild earlier regarding multiple uses of the same abilities in pet families. We discussed flavor in WoW and how it really changes the game because no matter how you put it every spell has some sort of effect that gives a little more to the game. If all our abilities involved shooting squirrels out of bows (as fun as that would be for a while) things would get pretty boring after a while, especially if our pet abilities were like that as well. What the rogue told me was...
"Why don't you have one of those dancing foxes? You want an awesome pet get one of those. They have that goofy tailspin thing too don't they? Kinda unique there too."
He brought up the point I've been pretty poor at getting across. Pets share a good number of abilities, the 4% increased physical damage being the example I use the most. So, here's the question!
If you could choose an ability you don't think would unbalance pets that came from another class, what would it be? Why?
...and the second question.
If you could add a cosmetic effect to a pet that comes from another NPC what would it be and why?
In addition to posting it here some help would be appreciated in clearing up my thoughts in the earlier thread in which I brought up some comments from WoWhead about pet abilities and how I disliked not seeing more variety. At 12:26am with a fresh (yet relatively non-threatening) injury that might require $urgery, I'd like some help clearing up my head.

Think all of the pets tamed during a weather event should retain a special relating to that weather event. Let's say you tame a polar bear during a snowstorm, I think he should leave a trail of snow flurries behind him, or if a pet is tamed in a downpour, it constantly leaves a puddle (not that kind of puddle) wherever it idles. It'd be a neat effect to have a special aura attached to a specific area.
Also, shiny pets and/or breedable pets. Not mini-pets, but combat pets. Combine a lava spider and a fox and get a fox with a fire aura, or a spider with the ability to disappear in a flurry of leaves.

Seeing as we're getting farms, I'd love to have the ability to breed special pets and get interesting pets that you can buy sell for people to tame.
Of course, an entire new system would have to be put in that would deal with genetic variations and breeding viability such as the more rare the pet on the your server/faction (Such as my server, Hydraxis and my faction, Horde) then it sells for more and breeds better. So, let's say there are 10 horde players that have King Krush and 47 horde players that have the Ironhide Devilsaur. King Krush will be a better producer that the Ironhide Devilsaur because less people have it, seeing as the Ironhide Devilsaur is readily available and thus, will cost less than King Krush.
Now, let's say I want to get a Grey Devilsaur or a Green Raptor with some a special affect. I can simply find a raptor with the desired skin and the devilsaur with the desired skin. Then, I will put them in the same stable-pen and, with some luck and some stimulation (Such as giving them a specialized pen/stable with certain objects), and you shall get Devilraptors or Devilsaurs or Raptors with desired or combined skins. You can then give the pet special affects with random items.
If you want a pet with a Firey Trail behind it, then you can spray it as a baby with the Shado-Pan Dragon Gun
If you want a pet that glows orange, then you can spray it with the Turnip Paint Gun as a baby.
There will also be things that you cannot control, such as if the egg hatches during a thunder storm, then the baby will have a lightning affect to it. Other things will also be affected by doing raids. Let's say you kill Algalon and a baby is born/hatches, that baby will have the celestial look that Algalon has.
There can be other things too like colors and affects being affected by the seasons and all that stuff. I somewhat don't see it being in, as some of it can get quite complex.

You know, I also play a game called Wakfu, and in the previous version there was a feature that's yet to be implemented in the current sequel. You could breed your mounts for a specific trait or as you mentioned, a specific
color you'd want them to have as well. Perhaps an easier way to implement it would be to have a similar feature where you can do the same things with pets. I'm just trying to think of a way to put your idea in-game.
However, if they were able to make it so pet families could make hybrids of their models as you mentioned it would be even more interesting! In reality, just about any genus of Python can interbreed and create hybrids. Some of the offspring are fertile as well. Imagine Ligers running around in WoW, let alone Devilraptors! xP
Following along the lines of your last idea, wouldn't it be neat if Blizzard allowed for the submissions of player-created pet skins? Many people are adept with photoshop and such and I can't begin to imagine all of the reskins that would begin appearing if they gave us the right tools.
Edit- Oh my WORD I butchered the quote system for a minute there.

As much as I would love to see something like this, no really... LOVE IT! Sadly it could and would lead to a few to many issues imo.
1. How would they deal with the copy write issues, would there be recognition/payment/etc for said designs.
2. At the moment, blizzard has the advantage of being completely involved and in control of the design process. This has the double positive of being able to control the exact style they want, and if people don't like said style, they can tell them to stick it, as no one but them selves are responsible for said design.
3. Quality over quantity, Not to be to much of a nit picker, but it would open the flood gates to blizzard getting swapped with designs. Some of these design might be fantastic... for a 7 year old... in the eyes of his/her grand mother.. and honestly, who is to argue with that. But it could be more drama than its worth with having to employ someone to go over all the entry's and even to deal with people who are insistent their design is worth putting in (yes you can already hear them on the forums, "My 1568765 friends on facebook all liked my raptor design, why is it not in game yets!!!) I could go on.
Now I'm terribly bad for playing devils advocate, and I do it with my friends, I'm not picking on this idea, like I said... LOVE IT! Just trying to bring a touch of possible reality to it.
I do skin edits too on the occasion, some of them I love, some not so much... but I am still personally weary to add them as an art form on forums and the likes... I've just never seen Blizzard endorse it in any way (unless via machinima maybe?) so it kinda of feels a bit... dodgy
(I don't know, though I love doing them.)
Now I could go a list all the positives associated with being able to do them, but I'm sure your list would be just as big as mine, if not bigger and better

They could always have a contest for the best reskins and top 10 end up in-game. That way all submissions would automatically be property of Blizz, like most contest submissions, so they wouldn't have to worry about copyrights. And then they wouldn't have to worry about being swamped because there would be a cut-off date.

Problem solved.

I second this idea!
Not only that but it could be done with item sets and tabards as well, further expanding on your idea. Oddly enough, I've not had any other new ideas for pet looks in a while. I'd really like it if Jormungar had an animation similar to that when they pop out of the ground in the Stormpeaks though. Their mouth is opened quite wide and they look as if they're about to attack.

one thing I miss about everquest, the ability to give your pets (mainly lock pets) weapons and armor and it would enhance the pet and you could see what the pet had equipped. I had a necromancer with a skeleton pet that had two legecy of ykesha's for instance. You can make them unable to equip weapons or armor above blue or green quality to balance it out.

One of the things on my wish-list would be letting Engineers turn our pets into cyborgs. My Devilsaur's name is Grimlock, so you can see where I'd go with that.

I wish I could give some of my pets "collars" sort of like how Kung Din in jade forest has the chain around his neck. I don't even really know why, sure collars are sort of a symbol for ownership but in this case I just think they look snazzy!

Speaking of the Jormungar animations....
Are there any that our pets don't do people would like to see?
-also-
WHOA! Anyone see the change to Blink Strike?
Blink Strike now has a 100 yd range, up from 30 yds. Teleport range is now 40 yds from your pet.
