heard this this evening while watching a film and thought it was beautiful:

having trouble finding who said that one too.

however, I'd much prefer inspirational and positive quotes...

I know I didn't specify. Silly of me to assume that people would naturally continue in the same vein as the original post.

I have two favorites that I like to use. Both are from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.

My favorite quote is in my signature...it's from Mark Twain's short story The War Prayer. There's also a Carl Sandburg poem that starts, "I cried over beautiful things, knowing no beautiful thing lasts." Neither of them is particularly inspirational, though.

OK, here's one: in the first chapter of John, there's a line that's usually translated as "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." But in the old King James version, the line is:

"And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

I just love that image--a light shining out, and the darkness just staring at and saying 'Whot?' :D

I just finished the movie Tokyo Godfathers and something one of the characters said really caught my attention:

and then I like this quote by one of my favorite poets:

Yeah, I like his quotes quite a bit. And I remember a quote that was ''Extinction doesn't have to be forever''. I don't know who said it, but I remember it.

Some People are like slinkies, not good for much but you can't help but laugh as you push them down the stairs. (read it in the patient news...applies to a boss of mine)

I also love animals.
In my case, I think almost all of those could apply to my cat, whose really more dog-like than cat-like.
