Are you using him in a raid setting where the debuff is already covered?
he never does it for me either, and all I do is solo. Even against caster mobs.
Hrm - is this an across-the-board goat problem or just Stompy, I wonder...

I went out and tamed a goat from the veiled stair, tested it out and it didn't cast either. I even turned off all other spells and it never used it unless told specifically. Also tried Stompy again, still nothing.

For what it's worth, my battle goat doesn't ever seem to use his ability unless I manually push it. This is even if I'm soloing a caster mob.

I've noticed that too.

Also I tamed Hexapos after my friend found him for me...then she tamed him but it hadn't even been an hour...it was only 30 - 45 minutes.

EDIT: Same with Portent

When I had Stompy, even manual cast didn't work. That's one of the reasons why he got released. Now for spawn times. They must have increased them because when I first tamed Portent, I waited at his spawn point for over two hours and he never respawned in that time. Now, I always see his tracks in the Vale every time I go out in it.

After unlocking the Golden Lotus dailies, I had the opportunity to track Portent along his entire path from northwest to northeast. He never phased. Also, I've only seen him in blue (3 times) and green (once, the time I tracked him). I half regret getting cozy with the Golden Lotus, since I never managed to verify any phasing issues for myself.

Well if you don't unlock the dailies for GL, he does phase. I've seen him phase. When I unlocked them, he didn't phase.

Yep, well, now I'll never see him phase, which I regret. But I'm happy to be progressing with the Golden Lotus.

Goats may have been fixed -- I was able to get Trample to work with manual cast on two aggored mobs at once on Friday, but I haven't had a chance to watch for it autocast beyond that. Got Bloodtooth yesterday, though I had to say goodbye to Rekk'tilac to make room. :(

And as usual, I found out MM DPS actually isn't horribly lower than BM... it's just that Aspect of the Hawk gets switched off when you switch specs. I actually believed there was a difference of 600 dps for the past couple of weeks.

MM dps is much lower than BM. It's currrently on the order of 10% in raids with full buffs (10k difference). In solo content, it's closer, coming in at 6-7% less.

This is definitely not the thread in which to compare spec dps. Thanks!

As for Trample, if it's still only going off on manual cast, then it's not fixed.

I just wanted to thank you again, Kalliope. I hadn't really planned on going after any other rares once I got Patranache, but I just couldn't resist Stompy. I know he's not as tough as most of the other ones to find, but your information was a great help in finding and taming him.

Hee, glad to have helped! Stompy has a certain charm about him, doesn't he? :D

That he does! The bad news is, yes Trample still isn't on autocast even though it has the twinkly swirl that means it should be... hm, I ought to try it with my addons disabled and whatnot, but I suspect it's a true bug.

And, sorry for that offtopic glee, but I'm still happy it's not as bad as I thought. ;)

No worries; it's just the idea that the reply had nothing to do with goats in general or the bug. ;)

Hopefully a fix will make it into 5.1!

I wanted to say thanks too. I was using a brown mists tiger to lvl my hunter, but sadly my cat died and I wasn't able to have my tiger out without being really sad. I tried every type or new pet and just about gave up on finding one I liked and put lvling my hunter on hold. Then I found out the rare goat was in KunLai where I left my hunter and used your youtube guide to get him. He's my new fav and I'm able to use my hunter again with Stompy as his pet.

I have good news and bad news... the bad news is, goat's Trample ability still doesn't autocast. The good news is, Porten'ts tracks now point in the right direction.

Yep, all of the "beast" prints are now forwards!

The last we saw, the "bird" prints (Glimmer, Hexapos, Patrannache) are still backwards.
