Not sure how many here are big sesame street fans or grew up watching it. But Jerry Nelson the voice and muppeteer of The count passed away this thursday.

I would say the count was probably my favorite out of the sesame street cast. Mainly due to him being well the count and who didn't like him counting things he well, made counting fun!

With that in memory of him i'll post my favorite count song.

I heard and have been mourning. :( I mean, seriously, who DIDN'T love Count von Count? He would not have been the same Count with any other muppeteer. Definitely a huge loss.

Aye though Count von count does have a new muppeteer Jerry still voiced him. I do have faith with the new guy he did a wonderful job with uncle deadly for the newest muppet movie.

But the loss has hit me hard too. It's sureal having something you've grown up with just go one day it's a real huge tug at your heart strings. I was getting quite choked up just listening to batty bat.

*nodnod* I'm sure the new guy is doing fine - it's just that the tradition was established at the beginning, and Jerry was the beginning. :)

Reading through various obits makes me see him as Jim Henson's utility infielder--he did all sorts of little roles that I enjoyed, including Harry Monster, Kermit's nephew Robin, Floyd Pepper (the bass player in the Muppet Show band), and that guy with the round head that always seemed to end up with Grover as his waiter.

:( I do love the Count. The childhood icon I mourned most deeply was Fred Rogers.

*nods* That was heavy one. Who didn't like Mr.Rogers!?

Most of today been watching skits with Jerry's creations mainly Count von count but also another muppet of his I liked alot Uncle Deadly. He didn't show up much in the muppet show skits but his debut was probabbly the classiest thing ever! They teamed him up with Vincent Price.

And yup he did seem to be the goto guy for alot of minor but always fun characters in sesame street and the muppet show. He was also respossible for emmet otter and lew zealand. "fish tossing guy"

When I was ten my brother was in a bicycle accident and broke his leg. He spent three weeks in traction and three months in a body cast. The minister at our church knew Fred Rogers, so one afternoon he called my brother to have a chat and cheer him up.

(He took it in stride, but my mom flipped out. "Mr. Rogers! You spoke with Mr. Rogers!" It was cute.)

So...yeah. Fred Rogers. Actually as nice in person as he appeared on TV.
