Water Striders - Buff Fix?

Has the double buff (spellpower and Crit) been fixed, or do we need to poke the hunter/bug beta forums about it?

I wasn't aware that was a bug. I thought that was intentional.

I think it's intentional, since the spellpower buff is a niche sort of buff.

That's what I thought.

Exotic Pets all have 2 skills. :P

Water Walking is meant to be something akin to Trick or Dance, not in it's actual skill slot.

*hairy eyeball*

I'd feel a lot better if that was from an official source, although I allow that that could be possible.

It just seems...rather OP.

That's not the question. The question is whether still water is supposed to give both spellpower and crit.

Since we've mentioned it a bunch of times and it's come up on the beta forums and such and hasn't been changed, it seems to be intentional.

No confirmation, unfortunately.

I'm well aware of the question.

Re-read my comment.

Still Water gives 2 buffs - (AKA Skills)

Spell Power does not benefit a hunter as well, so if you don't like the Trick comparison, just think of it that way. They wouldn't give a hunter pet a buff that wouldn't benefit the hunter without also giving them a buff that does. That's probably why the only buff/debuff we don't have is the spell haste buff, as all the exotics are taken, and they probably don't want to make a non-exotic the "must have" pet by giving them spell haste and something else.

Right. It's what I implied in my earlier post, but didn't say explicitly - since spellpower does nothing for us, we get the crit for ourselves.

Course, it all begs the question of "what do we gain from the pets who increase spell damage taken?" But since survival used to benefit from that, perhaps that's still applicable.

What do hunters gain when we bring that pet? Happy spell clases like mages/locks etc if they are missing that buff. Its less about the hunter and more about a raid utility if the raid core is missing a buff.

The key here is that water striders are also a solo traveling pet (at least pre-flight) for waterwalking, and having a crit buff makes them fit that role too.

Since water striders are exotic, you can't get them to 68 anyway so....waterwalking doesnt do much for solo.

Sure it does. You can't fly in Pandaria until 90. :D

Well after playing the beta and leveling a hunter till 90 I concur waterwalking is very handy pre 90 in pandaria. There are lots of zones (krasang) with water and quests around them especially if you need to kill or collect stuff on/around the water. so specially during leveling it makes things less painful

It's also amazing for the fishing hunter.

Never having to carry around Water Walking Potions again? Win.

My future waterstrider(s) will always come along with me to the Darkmoon Faire, then. Fishing up those shipwreck debris makes loads of money!

Also great for the Darkmoon Fair areas! And maybe you have someone running around with ya in your party, but maybe don't have a multipassenger mount? Or you're in ZA and running around mobs on the water and don't have a DK. There really are many uses for it (I think a couple other dungeons might qualify too, maybe ZG). Or maybe someone doesn't have the gold to buy flying in some of those areas, so that helps! The water walking really is great for anyone.

Well, in some of those cases, you would need a multipassenger mount, since the water strider buff is NOT party/raid wide; it's only for the hunter/strider.

Looking at the Mage's Arcane Brilliance, it does look like it could be intentional--as then it would be identical to AB.
