I don't know if this has been mentioned before, and I apologize if it has. I haven't seen it noted.
The hyena run animation changed in the latest patch so their heads stay lowered instead of raising into the old, head raised stance. Thanks to Wassa we now know that it appears all Hyena animations have been changed accordingly.

Whoa, I have to go check this out.
*swoops off to game*
EDIT: Ooh, interesting. I think...I think I really like it actually.

Looking at WMV, all hyena animations now have the head down stance.
EDIT: Ow. When they howl it looks like they break their back. x.x I do like the head down walk though. Looks like they are stalking prey.

Do they? Good to know- seems they've rather cemented the idea that they want the head-down stance to stay. xD Rats, oh well. Kills hyenas for me, as the run is extremely disturbing to me for some reason, but I'm glad other people will enjoy them more.

Hyena's usually have their head down in the wild, don't they?

Aye, their heads are down while standing idle, but they always rose their heads up to run/attack. The change is that their heads now stay in the down posture even while running.

Speaking of WMV, I wish they'd fix the closed eyes bug with Belf females, as both my pally and hunter are FemBelfs, and it's making the creation of new sigs a bit hard :S

It's not a bug per se, the eyelids are just closed by default, but you can open them.
Go to View, Model Control, and uncheck one of the boxes near the top (I believe it's one of the ones labelled as Hairstyles, I just can't recall the number off the top of my head). One of them is the eyelids and you just need to unselect them.

I wish the developers would stop sneaking into my stables at night and beating the Sht out of my Hyena, breaking his back into odder shapes even more. It was bad enough waking to find his head smashed down and his neck snapped and a uniboob...at least he looked proud and proper when he ran...Now they seem to have snuck in again to finish the beating...he's got this huge humped neck, and he cant even lift his head it hurts him to much. where is PETA when you need them? My poor Nanaki!!

I have to admit, Makoes, that's the feeling I got from the hyenas. It looks so… painful! >.< Like they're only moving because they're rabid, their backs so distorted and broken that they can't lift their heads. Shoved my poor, adored hyena to the back of the stable real quick. :-/

Im gonna be a weird one and say that i actually like this new run >.> it just.. they looked like they were borderline insane and spontaneously eccentric. I can definitely compare it to the plainstriders though. They are so horrible now, i cannot bear to ride one or have one for a pet anymore. Yet people like the new run. I much prefer the seriousness and savagery this new hyena run imparts (and i definitely think slaverjaw is going to be my new BFFL on my orc) but everyone keeps seeing problems with it. Its definitely a matter of taste, thats for sure. And i know that its probably really hard if you've only ever seen them as the insane and eccentric buddies they used to be or if you made your RP out with one that was crazy or maybe even just a child at heart. But yea, unfortunately where its killed the love for others, its created a huge bond for me.
I do however feel bad for Giggler tho, he was the one and only hyena i imagined to be utterly batshit crazy xD the run was perfect for him and him alone in my eyes. I'd prolly jump for joy if he was singled out from the rest of the hyena models and was given the old run back. But that's 99.99% not happening since they never reverted plainstrider mobs and pets to the old run. They just programmed all plainstriders, mount and mob with the neck-brace speed waddle.

After spending time with it I really love the new hyena run too, but I've always liked the heavily stylized head-down posture of the hyenas. I love the attitude it gives them, and now I enjoy their animations even more.

Yeah, I can definitely see why it would appeal for that reason. Personal preference has me hating the stylized head-down posture, so for me, this is exactly what I didn't want to happen. xD I've always liked the happy look they had before. But hey, at least it's appealing to others. Can't please everyone, and at least they finally settled on a posture instead of hovering between the two.

She's missing her quirky little bounce. Haven't decided whether it is an improvement or not.

Gonna have to agree with you Veph. I'm loving this new run for my Hyena. It makes him look so, I dunno.. Intimidating? Something like that. XD
I can see how some people wouldn't like it, though.. The skeleton the model is on just isn't really built for Hyenas. XD I think Blizzard needs to make a totally new skeleton for them, so they don't look so borked thanks to the one they're on now. (Which, if memory serves, is the coyote/old world wolf skeleton.)

I retamed a red hyena on Talu and I absolutely love the new run! They look so vicious, charging at their prey, locked on their target!
