Ferocity vs Cunning for BM pvp

So I've been thinking. I've had lots of time to do that since most of my time post patch has been spent in Deepholm camping for Aeonaxx. Well thinking and playing around with all my new account wide mounts and pets 8-) !

Anyways, I thought Cunning would come into it's own as the clear pvp spec come MoP. I think previously you brought a pet more for their special ability than for their talent tree at least as far as MM goes. Now the decision seems to be a pet's special bility as always but I don't think the talent tree choice is as clear as I thought it would be.

Ferocity was considered the best pet for BM in most situations. I wonder if this is still true seeing as how so much of BM's damage is still tied to our pets. Does the pvp utility of cunning now outweigh the dps of ferocity? More and more for BM I'm thinking no. I haven't had a chance to test this theory out yet as pvp is out until I get Aeonaxx. What do you all think? What are your experiences so far with pets in pvp?

I've been going with ferocity and finding it working out just fine.

Not that I'm anyone's dream of a great PVPer, but still.

So far I've been using cunning pets, mostly for RoS (which I macro into Master's Call personally) and it's worked out really well. My pets can definitely take a beating as long as I'm diligent about putting mend pet up, they get to people fast (doubly so with blink strike) and I put out a lot of damage while still maintaining a high level of survivability. I haven't really tested ferocity yet, but cunning is kicking butt for me at least.

I suspect that it really comes down to what you feel most comfortable with and therefore play better. User contentment feeds really directly into better performance, and where there are a bunch of good things to say about each choice..."what I like doing" is worth considering. :)

Elanas pretty much said what I was going to. But, I can say that I moved my chimera into ferocity and when I asked an extremely good pvp pally how he felt getting pummeled by the chimera he said, "Well, Nykwil didn't tickle. That's for sure."

I'm not noticing much of a difference as I'm usually focus fired immediately when Nykwil takes the bg. When not focus fired, we're still topping the HKs, KBs and dmg charts within the top 3. :) I still have master's call, so I'm not finding I need bullheaded as much. Of course, that could change in a worldpvp setting. I'm speaking purely from BG experience.

I DO miss the extra damage output for those under 25% health; but not so much that I'm going back cunning with Nykwil. My spiders, maybe. Nykwil? Naw. I find I use him as ferocity both in pvp and pve and he's performing beautifully to my playstyle as is.

I always choose Ferocity.

Heart of the Pheonix is so incredibly valuable in PVP (no one will ever let you get off a 5 second cast to rez your pet).

I almost wish that Heart of the Pheonix was with all specs, because for me, I refuse to use any spec that doesn't have it.
