Okay, so my thread about preferred existing races seems fairly popular, and we've got a lot of different preferences for many varied reasons!

But how about this--if you could play any race in the game, what would you be? Not just as a hunter, but as any race/class combo. NOTE: Goblins and worgen do NOT count, since they are official player races that just haven't been implemented!

Me? I think I'd kill to be an ethereal ( http://www.wowwiki.com/Ethereal ). They look awesome, have cool noises, and they're very clever; I bet they'd make some fantastic rogues, warlocks and mages. Since Rogue is probably my fave class (my main is one), I'd love to be a rogue ethereal.

I think it'd also be cool if they broke up the bipedal-race thing. It'd be neat to play nagas or dryads or something.

I think one of the main reasons for why they won't let us play four legged races is because there would be problems with the animations, and naga have a serious problem with they're alignment, none of the races in the game has anything "worse" that a neutral lawful so far, and the chaotic-evil of the naga means that they will only ally in order to destroy their common enemy.

My wish race would probably be the high elves.

Well in talking 'wish races' I mean completely devoid of lore and whatnot. Don't have to follow lore to want it.

Besides, even the playable races have a few lore plotholes when it comes to them being playable!

nah just kidding thats an easter egg so no fit at all in warcraft. I like my blood elf tbh lore and everything behind those pointy ears is adorable ^^

I have wanted playable Naga since I started the game. I absolutely love Naga, I would kill to have one as a race. I'd definitely play a male, their models are so awesome looking.

Other than that, Vryukul would be pretty wicked...I love Norse mythology.

Oracles and Wolvars?
Centaurs and Dryads?
Furblogs and Wildkin?

Any of those concepts would gain my interest.

Wolvars, because they're cool.

I know that technically they are considered pets (minions actually), but I've always secretly wanted to play a Succubus since the moment I first saw them and their sassy idle animations!

Incubi and Succubi? I would definitely be in favor of something like that!

I really wish we could play those dryad/centaur creatures you find near anub'arak.

Being a twilight Dragonkin would be amazing. I would love a warlock or any class really as a dragonkin. At least the style that's used as guards at wyrmrest temple. Having a 4 legged race would create issues with mounting. Or just actually being a dragon that could take the form of a humanoid (of our choice).

Wich race would I love to play? Hmmm... Lemme think about that for a moment.

The Nagas would be cool, alhough there might be a slight problem with equipping their lower body parts.

I absolutely would LOVE to play an ogre warrior!
Or maybe a Vrykul warrior would do.

And I really loved the gnolls from first sight.

You know, when WoW started, the tauren weren't meant to have mounts but using an ability called "plainswalking". With a 4-legged race, you could do just that. Instead of learninig how to ride, they learn how to sprint! Nobody complained about the druids having a form to fly, why should people complain to have a race who could run instead of ride? Only it wouldn't make sense to get exalted with this race...

The reason they removed plainstriding was that you had to run for ten seconds to activate it, and it would always activate after ten seconds, the buff was also removed when you stopped running, and when you got hit. They made it so that you can't run around in circles of others in PvP, but, hey, each time you stop to look at the map, do you dismount too?

Good riddance IMO.

Dragons. Netherdrakes or one of the other dragon flights...Flying mount? Why,when you already have wings.

Yeah, but if hey made it just like riding? You activate it instead of mounting up? And deactivate it whenever you dismount. Easy as pie fpr Blizz, I guess. The mount is shown as a buff, so could be the sprinting skill.

I think the main reason they removed it was that it would be too hard to tune it along with normal mounts, giving Tauren the Kodos was their solution, and I can't find a better one.
