One good way to capture Savage

1. I noticed that I could track him back and forth. Follow the tracks backwards as everyone says. On the east side of the zone, I lost him even though I flared and saw him because I was attacked by 2 other tigers.
2. He moves very slowly. You will walk past him while he is patrolling.
3. As long as the server is up, it appears he will patrol until tamed.
4. If you know which way he's going, see if you can beat him there, especially if he is headed west. You will see when the tracks appear that he is there. There is a closed path in there. If you keep you flare going there is one way in and one way out. He's yours.
Ultimately I found this much easier than having to deal with other classes that would kill him. People would see me chasing the tracks and have no idea what I was doing, even other hunters.
I pretty much tracked alone.

I've never known rares to ever despawn, but yanno. I could be wrong. I've just never heard of it.

Agreed. About the only exception that I know of is the TLPD.

Oh yeah him. He was rumored to do that but most killed him before he could. Tameable wise though, I don't recall rares despawning.

Some say yes, some say no. I watched Loque'nahak waiting for a friend for about 15 minutes. Just faded out.
I'm just confirming that no such weirdness happened with Savage.

Ya know, I'm thinking about it, and so many people said he despawned I just accepted that as the explanation, but I wonder if he just moves locations? He had so many.

I've watched Loque'Nahak for 2 hours and he never despawned. He got killed while someone was coming to tame him. So I'm not sure what to tell ya. I personally think they're mistaken, just due to my experiences.
Now with CRZ's, things 'appear to despawn' but that's cause you're put into a different realm where said spawn isn't up.

This seems like a logical guess as to what happened, depending on when the fading out incident occurred. I've sat and watched Loque for hours myself; he certainly doesn't despawn after 10 minutes
Unfortunately, Griffin, just because someone posts up a guide on the internet, it doesn't mean it's 100% factual. People do make mistakes and word of mouth can cause many people to make the same mistakes, giving the rumors a false sense of confirmation. That's why you've got to go to reputable sources.
(Plus, one of the sources you linked was from 2008 - the zone was too crowded to have observed Loque properly back then.)

True true. I've had NPCScan go off for Aotona while flying in, see her, I fly back, she's gone. (Stupid CRZs...;-; )
Very true. I've found even spec guides to be wrong from time to time so it's best to take guides with a grain of salt. When I was tracking Savage for an hour, he never just 'disappeared' since CRZ doesn't extend to Pandaria.

I have personally seen Loque despawn and that was back when Wrath was the current Xpac and he was the only Spirit Beast in existence. I once was getting all set to tame him when he just disappeared. As people have said, it took about 10 minutes because another Guildie told me he was up and I should get there ASAP. It took me a year before I ever saw him again and finally tamed him. Back when TLPD was new, a blue posted that it could actually be killed by the large eagles in Storm peaks and also said that some rares would despawn in about ten minutes. I still have never seen TLPD or Vyragosa. I also know of people who witnessed Arcturis despawning when he was new.
As far as Savage goes, I got him a couple of days ago but I couldn't see any tracks either at the beginning portion of the path up to the Gong of Hope or in the area by the Jade Witch (the posted map is a little off between there and the other side of the road going towards the river, he goes farther across the road than the map indicates). I hadn't done many of the Jade Forest quests at that time though. I spotted tracks going towards the south turnaround point so I just ran ahead to where I had it marked by MapNotes and waited for him to get there. If anyone uses coordinates, his spawn point in the north is at 53,23 and the south turnaround is at 38,65.
