annoying little bug...

I did the stink-bombing daily quest for Hallow's End, which flags you for PvP.

Normally, that's not much of an issue, by the time I get back to Orgrimmar, the timer is done.

However, I noticed a bug, now that there are cross-realm zones: every time you cross into a new zone, your PvP timer resets to 5 minutes.

I actually watched it reset 3 times (I probably missed the first few times, as I was traveling back to town).

I get to town and decided I'd wait out my PvP flag by doing fishing daily.. so I take quest, go outside, and.. tadah! my timer reset just by leaving town to go do my fishing daily.

I fish up what I need for the quest, my PvP timer is down to 4 minutes.. and soon as I hit town.. tadah! back up to 5 minutes.

In all, I was flagged PvP for over 10 minutes.

It's not a MAJOR problem, but for someone who hates PvP, plays on a PvE RP server, then yes, it's unpleasant.

particularly that yesterday there were alliance groups at Undercity ganking those who dismounted upon returning from the stink-bomb runs.

I noticed the same problem as well. Accidentaly got flagged flying too close to a horde guard post, then when my timer was almost complete, I zoned and it reset. Was not impressed.

It happens whenever you zone. Just don't zone for five minutes. As far as I know, it's a feature, not a bug.

it sounds like a bug to me, rather than a feature.
why would simply traveling where you are going be to your detriment?

I don't play on a PvP server especially because I detest PvP. it frustrates me that this silly daily quest (which still pays very good exp) forces you to flag PvP.

I can live with that, but then telling me I have to sit there for 5 minutes doing nothing waiting for the PvP flag to drop?
That's not a "feature". That's very very clumsy and ill-thought programming.

Do flight paths not clear pvp flags anymore?

They do.

Just scoot down to Brill and fly somewhere, it'll kill your flag.

As for the people ganking fliers as they land; you'd still be flagged for pvp for a minute or two after landing even if your timer wasn't resetting, so really... you'd still be getting ganked. Try to get your hordie friends to help! You're the ones that are always claiming to be superior at PVP, aren't you?

The reason it's a feature is to encourage people to stick around and finish their fights. If you run, there's still a chance of getting caught in the next zone.

And as already mentioned, flight paths kill your flag, so you don't need to wait around.

***edit***

rather than get angry at some of the seemingly thoughtless comments being made in this thread, I'm just going to put up with this minor annoyance, and leave it at that.

That does seem annoying. Hopefully it's a bug they'll fix. Surely if it was intentional behaviour they could have always done that at zone changes. It didn't require CRZ.

There are a lot of minor bugs with CRZ. I guess they're still ironing them out. As others have suggested, the short flight from UC to Brill is probably the fastest way to clear it for now.

I find it kind of annoying, myself. A few times now I've logged off after an evening of PvP without waiting for my flag to drop. Upon logging on the next day and heading out of Org to do the fishing dailiy or quest or whatever, I find my flag getting renewed. Usually, I just keep on going and hope for the best.

I'm only doing the holiday dailies on lower level chars this year. I've taken to doing the stinkbomb one first, then doing the cleanup quest in UC. I guess it depends upon how busy the Alliance are on a given server, but I've found that by the time I get down into UC, clean up 10 bombs and head back to the questgiver, my flag's dropped or is danged close to it. Then again, these are sub-20 characters who can't ride mounts, so their travel time is a little longer than it would be for higher levels. Still, it's a bit safer running around inside UC than outside of town.

I always use the Flight Path bug feature to clear that PVP flag. I hate it since I'm not a PVPer very often and I don't care to be ganked by people who lack the skill to fight someone geared for it.
