Post your favorite little friend, for me it would definatley have to be Onixyian Whelp, Willy and my little proto drake whelp.
I don't have that many screen shots of mini pets, but I found two of my little whelp on my druid.

I love the second pic. My favorite is probably my disgusting ooze, lol.

I'd have to say it ties between my baby raptors, Azure Whelpling, and the Black Tabby. The raptors are just too darn cute, I spent about a week trying to get the whelp, and the black tabby looks exactly like my IRL kitty. <3

I'm absolutely in love with the baby corehound. Love it. Other than that, I'd loooooooooove to have the rocket chicken for Sara, but it's just always too damn pricey. On my druids I love the sprite darter, and my warlock feels very comfortable hanging out with Lil' KT. xD

My sprite darter, because it's so colourful and I waited years to finally be able to get it as Horde.

My azure whelpling because my boyfriend secretly farmed it and gave it to me as a surprise when I first started collecting.. and she was my first whelp.

My mini-tree druid, because I can't resist! It's so cute with it's little dance.

My proto-drake whelp, since protos are my favourite type of dragons.

Mr. Chilly.. he's so silly.

My Phoenix Hatchling. :3 Ran it for kicks with an old guild mate, it dropped the first time, and he let me have it<3 It really stands out, and I love pets that make noises when you click em.

As you can see, I've still got the old cat model, pretty sure I got it January last year, really early WotLK.

I love the sprite darter hatchling, I have to get it on all of my characters. I've always wanted the emerald whelpling but just haven't had the luck or money to get one. I also really like the newish gryphon and wind rider babies. I'd love to have a hippogryph hatchling but there's no way I'd be able to afford one now. My druid loves her deviate hatchling, I farmed for quite a while before one dropped (and then a second dropped right after, on my thirty-somethingth run). I'm also quite fond of Willy even though I never thought I'd get him, and of course I love Whiskers the rat because I love rats IRL. Oh and the mechanical chicken is pretty cool with the funny robot-bawk sound it makes.

but atm im pritty much in love with lil KT and when im around my nubadin he has his skunk and i have a black cat

Personal favourite? My Phoenix hatching. He's just so adorable, even if he does seem a little out of place next to my sleepy Frost Death Knight.

Coming in a very close second is my Red Whelpling on my Hunter. He was a gift from a friend of mine in-game who hated grinding up mini-pets. Was very sweet of him.

And my Mini-Diablo gets honourable mentions. Mostly because I never picked up the original collector's edition.
Back when The Pre-Wrath Patch hit, a lot of people were having problems with their mail diappearing. Blizz ended up sorting most of it out, but got a few things wrong. Including sending me a Kharanos Gift Voucher, which gives the quest to pick up one of the original Collector's Edition mini pets. You can imagine my surprise.
I actually felt guilt about it, after all I got this for free whilst people with the actual Collector's edition had to pay extra. So I contated a GM. I think they were amused I'd be guilty over a mini pet of all things. Said that it was they wo gave it to me, and they weren't going to take it away now that I had it.

Is it possible to solo the phoenix pet?

Mana Wyrmling was the first mini-pet i ever got, and what actually spurred me on to collect as many mini-pets as possible. Love that thing.
