AGH! Elyos scum!!!
(sorry, that's my hubby screaming over my shoulder)
Very cool pics. the graphics in this game are very beautiful.
It's tempting, but I already have so much invested in WoW.
I haven't really gotten to hear the music (hubby plays with headphones on).
So, there's a hunter-like class in Aion? (hubby plays a rogue/thief type class and has no idea about anything else).

Sukurachi, there is a ranged class, but as Tarnfalk said, there are no pets. Basically what you do is choose one of four "core" classes at the beginning: I believe it's warrior, scout, mage aaaand priest? Then, each one branches out into two distinct classes at level 10. So as a mage, you can be a spiritmaster or sorcerer. As a scout, you can be a rogue or a ranger. As a priest, you can be a cleric or a chanter; and as a warrior you can be a templar or gladiator.
It is a very beautiful game and in my opinion, has a lot to offer for being a free-to-play game.

In the next major patch there will be more classes introduced, none of them pet classes so far unfortunately. Gunslinger, Troubadour, and a third that's still not revealed but looks like a person in a giant mechanical golem.
What I find odd is that even though there are four base classes, there are only three new classes that will be introduced. I've read some speculation that the Troubador will be available for both the mage and cleric classes.

to those just starting with Aion: yes, it's free to play, but there are some things, like larger bags, better gear, that have to be bought with real-life money. The company has to make its money SOMEhow.
and one complaint from higher level players is the amount of farming for "necessary" gear is very tedious.

If I remember right, there is a quest in the main city that allows you to get a mini-pet. I think it's some sort of little toad thing.

My hubby just got back from business trip.
He says there's a quest at the beginning for your first pet (as Rhyela said), and that further pets are quest rewards, hitting a specific level, dungeon drops, "achievement" rewards, some are special commercial promotions, and yes, some are real-life money pets.

I thought about poking this game but... eeh, like every game out there that isn't WoW, they choose not to support my OS, and therefore, I won't play their game. /shrug
Yeeees, I know I could install dumb things like partitions, but first I don't feel like giving MicroSlop any of my money in the first place (why should I spend a ton of extra money just to play a third party game?), and second, I don't like bogging my machine down for no reason.
FFXIV has the same issues... and is a super pretty game on top of it too. Really, given the LINUX core of OSX, they have no excuse not to release for both platforms, except for laziness and/or elitism.
