Cataclysm content removed from MMO Champion

Blizzard asked us to remove all the content from the Cataclysm Alpha on the site. I don't have any reason or project to be an internet superhero because none of the underwear I have look nice over my pants and I'm in the process of removing all the content from the site.
Obviously, it also means that a few rules changed for you, my wonderful users:
* You cannot post anything from the Cataclysm Alpha on the forums. You can only discuss what was already posted on official sites/blue posts.
* Any screenshot from the Alpha will be removed and will earn you a 1 week ban. We will start enforcing this rule tomorrow to make sure you had time to read this post.
* I will track down anyone mentioning an emulated server/sandbox on my forums, find where he lives, and steal all his left shoes. You will also be banned permanently for that.
* No Blizzard-hate posts either, I support their decisions even when they aren't the nicest thing for me.
I apologize for the short notice, the content will be back as soon as the NDA is lifted.
I don't see the point in this ? 1,000's of people have already seen it and I have myself saved quite a few screenshots. The damage has already been done so why not just let them leave it up ?

Meh, it was bound to happen at some point. Blizz wants things in Cata to be a surprise, they want us to have cute little nerdgasums when we are finally able to see all their hard work in motion. Honestly I can't blame them for it. Look at it this way, if you were giving a gift to someone and you had worked your tale off to pick it out for them wouldn't you be upset if they were able to get a good look at it before you got it all rapped and ribbon-ed up, then wanted to discus it with you? Just my two cents.

I see it as the damage is all ready done, so why take it down? People have seen it and will continue to discuss it - just permit them from putting new stuff up..the old stuff has been seen so removing it is kind of pointless.

Well regardless of it, I have already posted what I think we should do for the time being....

It's a ploy. They left it out for a few days, let people drool over it, and then they yank it, leave you wanting more.

Oh boo! I totally forgot to ask my sister about the female worgen hairstyles she said they posted earlier... Anyone save those?

I agree that it was a "make 'em drool" allowance by Blizz. Clever folks, those guys.

On a related topic, the guy behind El's Extreme Anglin' has a fascinating article up on his personal detailing what he knows of the whole 'leak' kerfluffle:

Wait, did someone already link that? I can't remember.
Sheesh, if my head weren't attached ...

This.
Just this; the damage is done the fire was already burning. There's putting up a control fire ahead of things and then there's just obliterating a crapload of forest to deal with a campfire.
I mean really, are they going to go to youtube? And deal with all the Alpha crap up there? Are they going to try and banhammer other sites? Yes MMO should act respectably but this is laughable that Blizzard is getting at one site when they are really powerless to do anything. Now people will just go to far, far worse sites and most likely get keyloggers and scammed.
WTG blizz. Over reacting at it's finest! T_T

That is true. Atleast with MMO you knew it was a safe and reliable source. It's like the government trying to stop torrents sites.. You shut one down and 4 more pop up..

damage already done, pointless removing it.
also agree with others that this was a 'scoping the field' move as well. they let stuff out, view the feedback, yank it, then make changes based on all the feedback they saw
come on, you don't leave all that major info out for a full week before pulling it.

Yea, if they hadn't wanted that info on MMO, then it wouldn't have been there in the first place, OR it would have been gone within 24 hours. Boub is well connected.

And you know everything else would be getting banhammered, I mean youtube has a crapload of content on it afaik right now; from some of the new effects to the new races and some of the zones and etc etc...
Starting to wonder if they did use Boub to get the masses more addicted to WoWcrack.
I mean Warcraft.

idk yeah you can understand why they want it removed cas it could be seen as a 'leak'
but then again patch 3.5 is out soon so maybe they want us to pay attention to that more? cas cata is ages away so we should enjoy what we got until its gone

*cries over tree form again*
idk blizz worry me sometimes ill shut up now

Well, I can't say I wasn't expecting this.
I almost feel a little sorry for Blizzard. They try to keep this stuff secret for us to enjoy one little nibble at a time. but every expansion, without fail, we manage to worm our way in and spoil all their planned little secrets... Not that I haven't enjoyed playing around with the alpha models in the model viewer myself. >.>
But that being said, this leak has been positive for Blizz. The leak fueled a lot of hype and there are a lot of people looking forward to Cata a lot more than they were before. As such, I'm a bit diappointed that they pulled this down. Understandable, yes. But as people have already said, the damage (if it can truely be called that) has already been done. Oh well. I suppose we'll still have the daily screenshots. And we're still waiting on the female worgen textures too.
Mania, shout out if you want me to take down any of the links to Cata images I posted earlier.

I must admit, I did look at it all and agree that it's been out there and seen already. But on Blizz's side, if you don't stop it now and even put it in reverse, by the time Cata is released we'll know where everything is, how to get there, and how to down the new dungeon bosses. I have to agree with Blizz on this one.

*snort* They distribute their alpha client via torrent, for goodness' sake. They know what they're getting into.
