As many of you know, when a Pandaren tamed a crane in their starting zone, it shrunk down to the size of the non-combat pet, if not a little smaller. It sadly appears this was fixed sometime last night, as upon logging in today, instead of being greeted by my normally adorably tiny crane, I was met with this:

Here's a picture with Origami with a Jade Crane Chick non-combat pet. Yesterday, they were about the same size. You can tell something has definitely changed here.

Has it been changed for anyone else? I shall miss Origami's small size, but he shall still be my Pandaren's forever partner. <3 (Unless I decide to replace him with another color later. xD But even if I do, I'll name it Origami and I'll just say I dyed him. <_< >_>)

Though, correct me if I'm wrong, he still appears to be smaller than a Pandarian Crane when tamed. I could have swore those were about as tall as a Pandaren.

He's definitely still smaller. I don't really see much change.

In the pic in the first post, he's shoulder height.

oooh okay. I see it better now. Probably just the angle that made it hard to see the difference.

I'd have more pictures, but my new hunter's only existed for a few days.

Can anyone else check on their Whitefeather Crane and see if it grew as well? As I said, it appears it's still smaller than the Pandaria Cranes. (Presumably we're having a Chibee situation, he'll remain slightly larger, but not be massive, in this case, in which it will remain slightly smaller, but not be tiny)

It was a gradual growth for my crane Jozai. I really liked it, actually. It's like she raised him from a chick.

And now, at level 77. Such a happy birdie! He's her permanent partner too, I have come to adore the squawky gangly burd, useless as his special is for PVE. :p

It is normal for every pet to grow. Tame a cat with a level 10 toon and one with a level 60 toon and place them next to each other. I noticed it back in Burning Crusade that my pets would grow when my hunter leveled up his way to the dark portal. Sadly they reach their final size with level 60. But it's still cute. I'm not sure if all pet classes grow, but I know of bears, wolfes and cats for certain. I think you just don't notice if you have had your toon on 60+ all the time and never had an alt. I have altitis (severe cause) and I love to see my pets grow up with my hunter.
Edit: added a pic of my level 32 wolf and my husbands level 85. The difference would be even bigger with a level 10 or even 20 wolf.

My level 12 is still tiny. I guess, since we do not have any other sample of a different tamable crane mob that's of the same level, maybe we can conclude that at level 10, when tamed, cranes are tiny?

Well, at least this clears up my Pandaren hunter's dilemma. She can just tame an Ash Moth from the starting area, without having to level up to 18 to get the crane as well

Yea, if I had known the Cranes grow up like every other pet (posts here had made it sound like they stayed tiny ), I would have just gotten a moth. xD Their sounds were so adorable.

That explains it.

There were posts here explaining that they do eventually grow up, but they still start out tiny and grow with your character, like normal cranes. The key is that they start out smaller.

Well crap I should have just kept him because the tigers don't do anything anyways until 81 and I'm making an 80 twink so since I'm only really at 42 maybe I could just re level >.>

This applies to all pets and minions, when the master/tamer levels up, it's size is slightly increased. At the lowest level, it is the smallest it can be, and the higher level, the taller the pets gets, notice when you tame a pet that is pretty small and when you are capped level, it grows a lot? That's what it is. Keep this is mind and you'll notice it from a level 10 warlock with a voidwalker and a level 90 warlock with a voidwalker.

The most unfortunate result of this is succubus, when first summoned. She's like child-sized which is slightly disturbing on a skimpy-outfitted, highly sexualised demon.

Here's another fun size compare for you guys.

Bunnbun and Curry are lvl20 while Thwip and Runepaw are lvl90.



Small kitty! I really do love the fact that they 'grow up' as you level. It just adds a whole 'nother layer of interesting to our pets. :3
