Hello everyone. As the title says, I do need help on something. But it's a little different then most. At my school me and my friend are doing a science project. The main topic of it is "When you hear the word gamer, what type of person do you think of?" (Funny story on this.. we were gonna do something about climate changes and our teacher recommended this instead.) So.. I was wondering if you guys could fill out a survey for me? You don't have too, but it'd really be appreciated if you could^^

Note, I apologize if some of the questions seem discriminating, racist, or sexist. I feel that some of the questions could be in ways, and I would just like to give this note ahead of time so no one is offended. I apologize to my sincerest of abilities if you are offended by this.

11. Despite my unemployment, I am working on looking for a job. I do game moderately but gaming is how I met my fiance. I've learned how to work with others via gaming and solve other problems while dealing with different personalities.

Only that as much as my responses to this form, well, the same sort of stereotypical picture that most of western culture sees as a "gamer", in reality that term is becoming much harder to apply to a singular group. So many people play games these days and, while these answers I've provided provide an archetype of a typical "gamer", I've met so many others who fall out of those same selections that I would not hesitate to label as such.
... Which doesn't answer this question, I know. XD
Uh, take this as a viewpoint of what I see as the most recognisable gamer out there, the stereotype most often seen in media or the most vocal about their opinions. Not as a statement that "All gamers are this and nothing else".

I must say the first thing that comes to mind is The Gamers...

That's just my stereotype of a gamer. Obviously its not true, since there are all kinds. Its in most ways the polar opposite of myself and most "gamers" I know.

(My fiance wanted to fill this out so this is for my fiance, I'm just posting on his behalf since he's not a member but would like to help you out)

11. Gaming is off and on depending on mood. He has ADD so his attention span on a game varies. Usually plays until he's burnt out on one game before moving on to the next.

Where we supposed to fill this out about ourselves or about our stereotype of what a gamer is, but not what we personally are?

I thought it was about ourselves. The wording seemed to imply it to me. If I am mistaken, then disregard mine and my fiances answers. I can redo it.

So, the intention is what do you believe to be the gamer stereotype. But at the same time, I can still see someone answering this question with "Me! I'm pretty stereotypical of this culture!". (I think that's a bit of a brilliant answer myself. XD)

Yeah, I took it to mean what it said. I answered about stereotypes, not myself.

my steroetype would be based on myself.... dont really have a sterotype of a player.. so it did it with myself

When I think of the term "gamer" ...

1. Are they Male or Female?
If I'm going to be honest here, I'm going to have to say male. I do think of gamers as being both genders because I, myself, am a female gamer. It's just that the imagery of guys partaking in console/PC gaming rituals always seems to pop up before the girls do.

2. What’s their age range?
10-19 age range but predominately for console gaming only; 20-29 age range for PC gaming.

3. What is their race?
Any and all races, ethnicities, and skin color would apply.

4. Do they live alone, with a partner, or with relatives?
All of the above.

5. What is their weight range?
Thin or Obese - It doesn't matter. I can envision a gamer of any shape and size just as easily.

6. Are they employed? (Do they have a job?)
Yes and No. Depends on the age of the gamer.

7. Are they social, or are they anti social?
Either. Some people love to game with others and use it as a bonding activity, while others prefer to game by themselves and/or use it as a means to block out their reality.

8. What is their general all around personality? (how do they act)
Truly, any adjective could apply here. As a gamer myself, I've met others that encompass a wide variety of personalities. No two gamers are ever exactaly the same under these circumstances.

9. Did they graduate highschool? Did they go on to college?
Depends. I can see a gamer accomplishing both or achieving neither. I'd have to consider their age and employment circumstances first.

Between 20-29 hours a week.

Nope. I just read the questions, closed my eyes, and went with the first thought that came to mind.
