Class suggestions

Hey my friends!

Need some suggestions on a class to play as I have cleared my lists to only one toon, my hunter, farron, who is level 85 and slowly raising to 86. ^^ still hunting for a good desktop/laptop. Anyway, I am going to be starting said toon on Whisperwind on the alliance side. I love ranged dps, but I don't mind trying melee. I let Plua (my level 90 Mage) go because I knew it was time. I hope everyone is well!

Elemental Shaman

By far my favorite after trying all the different ranged classes. You get kick ass dps and backup healing. Mobility with lightning bolt and spirit walk, and a quick travel form too. My Shammy is my second main behind my first hunter. Mail armor and a shield make you able to take a hit and survive, without the frailty of mage or lock. Crazy aoe dps levels make them a lot of fun.

Druid is fun-but there are so many options with them I couldn't find something I liked long term. I only got mine to 60 before I stopped playing her.

Shadow priest was alright, but I couldn't get into it too much. The DPS of a shadow priest, at least at low levels (and if noxxic was steering me right on rotation) was embarrassing. Also only got mine to about 60.

Mage is very fun, but very fragile till you get some of the higher spells. I didn't really enjoy my mage when compared to my shammy. I've gotten my mage to 87, and will take her all the way to 90 eventually.

Warlock has some neat looking spells this expac-but I've not tried them yet. I've tried leveling a lock and couldn't get past 30. None of my spells hit hard enough or fast enough to do any decent dps at low level instances and that really irritated me. By the time I got all the DOTs up, the fights were usually over. I've not tried end game with them yet, so I cannot say much more than that. My brother told me it is like a combo of a mage and a hunter-you have a pet and cast a lot of spells. I don't really know... *shrug*

I'd recommend a kitty druid or a windwalker monk. Druid has been my main for eons and I've loved her so much. Kitty kitty meow! ;3 and since I raised my monk, she's been a blast to play, even has on the fly heals.

Another hunter :D there's never enough hunters!

I'm not sure how much this would be helpful to you, but as a primary hunter player with alts of every class at least at lvl 20 (because for some getting higher was to much of a pain):

Ranged:
I absolutely adore my restokin and ele/resto shammy - both are serious anything-but-squishy kickers with excelent backup heals and 2ndary healing specs - and nothing is as easy and fast to level with LFGs as healers. I have tried a lock, mage and priest, too, but somehow clothies don't go well with me. I need at least some mail, or leather covered with thick hide between me and the bad guys :P Lock as a pet class is quite nice, though, but nothing beats hunter pets :D

Melee:
I like playing those solo, especially the plate ones, but DK (played unholy and frost, tried blood but somehow it doesn't click with me) is the only melee I've found bearable to play as a dps in groups, thanks to the big chunk of dps comming from minions and dots. Running after my target because the tank decided he feels like moving while trying to dance-avoid all those mechanics... just plain nope. On my pally (prot<3/ret), after tanking my way up to lvl85 (somehow prot just came naturally to me) and dpsing my way up to 88 for now (not enough fps on mop content to tank) by doing all the leveling instances once, I just don't want to do any more LFGs on her. Ever. Just plain nope.
I also have a warrior, which I've quite enjoyed, but left at lvl20 to be a bank alt - I just had to many alts that I /want to play already and decided to just get a ret offspec for my pally. The rage mechanics didn't feel quite "the thing" to me as well (so I probably wouldn't like a bear either).
Rogue, feral, monk - tried only a bit of those, but as much as they're a fun distraction from time to time, I don't see myself playing them on regular basis. Monk is a bit more solid, has some nice backup heals and a less annoying version of combo-points system, but still doesn't click for me.

I've found that, after playing my hunter for so long, other ranged DPS classes feel very slow. That's probably because my preferred character type in these kinds of games is 'mobile rangestriker', and BM and SV in particular rely heavily on instant shots. Playing a caster class with long cast-time spells just feels like I'm wading through molasses.

For melee characters, I really enjoyed leveling my feral druid in late Cata. Fighting as a cat druid is a lot of fun, especially if you take the feral charge talent at level 15. Pounce! Rip! Tear! Shred! Loot and repeat! Like Myrrmi, I don't like playing melee DPS in groups (I don't like having to chase the tank around the dungeon, and cat DPS really requires you to be behind the target to be effective), so I picked up bear as a secondary spec for instances. Bear's certainly effective, but not nearly as much fun, and since it works through an entirely different resource system (rage instead of energy), playing in one spec doesn't really help you learn the other. And then they completely overhauled tanking for Mists, and I've hardly the character at all since then, so I have no idea how the new bear plays.

Locks are my absolute favorite class, if you're looking for a ranged spellcaster. I recommend Destruction or Demonology (My current spec.), but I haven't tried affliction yet, so.
