Hello, we can't successfully pull off any instance tames even though we've been hearing people are taming the 4 instance buff pets.

We've tried hunter-hunter and hunter-warrior combinations along with spamming the following macros during tame:

Macro 1 : /cast [No Channeling] PetRevive

Macro 2 : /script PetAbandon ()

Macro 3 : /cast [No Channeling] PetRevive
/script PetAbandon ()

If I've written those macros wrong don't worry; I'm just writing from memory, in game they are written correctly. We've already tamed plenty of the buff pets that require dueling easily. We know what we're doing but our first instance tame is proving impossible.

Can anyone help instruct us how to tame an instanced buff pet please? Also, it would GREATLY help morale if we could see a screenshot of anyone's tamed instance buff pet.

/script PetAbandon () will actually abandon your pet now. So maby you should stay away from that one. C:

I'm not sure you can. So far I think the only way to get the tame to work is to tame while in a duel so your friend can kill it at the right time. (Or in some cases flag up so the opposing faction can kill it for you.) So I doubt you can pull this off unless you manage to kill the pet with the aoe attack of another mob or something.

Okay, we're beginning to think that instance tames are indeed impossible. The closest we could ever come was making it ding, watching its buff vanish, watching it die, and bringing it back with no buff, versus getting the "Your pet is not dead." message and logging out/back in to find nothing.

I guess we misread all the posts discussing that there are 4 tameable instance pets, and its starting to become clear why there never were any screenshots.

Thank you for reinforcing our beliefs regarding the situation. In the very least these posts will provide clarity for others who might try what we have tried. If anyone does happen to find anything, it would be nice to hear about it... with proof. We've grabbed at straws for quite long enough!

Update: We're still thinking about it and we're still on the case. We're going to try two new tricks to accomplish an instance buff tame and all the permutations revolving around combinations of those two tricks and all the previous ones. Thanks to Qinni's advice we've removed the pet abandon macro entirely, as it did make us feel uncomfortable with losing our actual pets.

So coming to the forums has accomplished something in making our pets a little safer from our own potential macro snafu's, and while I'm personally a little discouraged there's nobody who can come up with a screenshot (Its a let down only because from all we've read we got the feeling SOMEONE out there might have had an instance pet buff tamed by now...) we're going to continue our personal quest.

NO REST UNTIL 5.2!!!

If any other pet-scientist out there make any breakthroughs regarding taming a buff pet inside an instance, please let us know. Thank you in advance.

I tried this with someone a week or two ago over Felscale Crawlers, the crabs in Blasted Lands. We probably went through a hundred tries of this happening. Then, eventually, he went on to practice with another hunter and they got it.

It just takes a lot of patience.

Peach and I are trying to get those shadowy bats in Mogu'shan Palace. Going to try it on heroic since the bats are 90. (something to do with the health pool)

Good luck. Those bats will make my day. I just hope tomorrow's maintenance doesn't sneak in a hot fix.
