So here I was, doing dailies in the Dread Wastes.
A Dreadspinner attacks me, and I call a beast to my aid. Expecting the normal scorpion or turtle, I turn to see...

a snail?
Wait, a snail? That can't be right.

But it was.


I've looked everywhere and haven't this finding reported before, so I just had to share it! I laughed so much at its arrival that I only thought to grab a screenshot a few seconds before it disappeared.

UPDATE: We are now searching for the rare Dire Beast of every zone!

This happened to me once not too long ago as well, made me do a double-take, but I didn't think to snap a screenshot because I was too busy sitting there thinking "Whiskey... Tango... Foxtrot...". I'm honestly glad to see that I'm not the only one who's had this happen and that I'm not nuts.

Yup, happened to me once too. Seems very rare, but very awesome when it does pop.

In fact, when I first encountered mine, I got very excited because in Cataclysm, I had always thought those snails on the ashenvale coast would make awesome pets. So I flew down there to check um out again, but alas... They had all been turned from beasts, to battle pets when Mists hit... sad day.

Dire Beast has that occasional chance to summon a critter. A rabbit, a cricket, etc. I haven't seen it happen in Dread Wastes yet, so I wouldn't know it's snail there. Good find.

that and beaver needs to be made into tamable families.

Update: I got a shiny purple spider in the Krasarang Wilds.

Am I the only one who has ever gotten P*Dawg? I feel I have asked this question before somewhere.........

I definitely remember the prairie dog from one of the continents. Also, Townlong Steppes critter is a cricket.

I got a rabbit in umm... I belive it was steam vaults. I know I was fighting a hydra. I just remeber thinking it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen, a tiny rabbit attacking this giant hydra.

Also have gotten a full sized warp stalker.

Ok, no screenshots here, but I got a penguin in Northrend.

A unique summon on the Kun-Lai Summit is a tiger cub. Only summoned it once or I'd have a pic by now.
