Something I've noticed with the new Devilsaur

Unread post by PorrasouxRex »

So firstly, the new devilsaur (I tamed the black one) makes different sounds than the older ones. It sounds a little odd. While I like some of the growly sounds, when it attacks, it sounds very strange.

Also, the return of stomping. I honestly like stomping noises on pets that were originally big to begin with, glad that's back.

But here's something I recently discovered. When my black devilsaur attacks something, it leaves behind a pool of blood in its place. When you move the enemy, the pool stays there for awhile. Maybe it's because the adults do it too, but I find this to be an amazing addon.

If only other devilsaurs got this little update, would be great for my King Krush. (Yes, I'm keeping two devilsaurs. :3)

Lupis noticed that too. On low graphics settings, I can't see it but she says it occurs when they use their Montstrous Bite ability. :)

The stomping I've noticed on Greymon and my Direhorn sounds a bit softened and hollow, too, as if they're stomping around on carpet. It's rather cute.

I noticed the blood-pool effects shortly after my initial tame, linked it to Monstrous Bite, and now, coupled with the fact that I'm getting really tired of the Stampede name-changing bug, am thinking of using Glyph of Stampede to summon an army of Greymons to spill blood everywhere.

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but do the new decilsaurs not roar? I went and reskinned my old black model in favor of a blue, and when it did its roar animation after the tame, it didn't make a sound.

They do have a roar, but it's much quieter than the old skins.

Ah, I see. Looks like it's on a delay too....

Hope Blizzard syncs that up a little better.

I don't know if it's delayed so much as there's a little growl that comes before the roar; the whole sound file is very soft.

Often your pets will swap names with each other after using Stampede. It's nothing permanent, and a dismiss and resummon will fix it, but it can be disorienting and a little irksome.

The idle roar not syncing well with the animation, the funny looking face, and the lack of a rare with a unique skin (or a rare at all for that matter) are the 3 reasons that I tamed one and then dismissed it shortly after.

I find the look of the head and face the most annoying. They just look wrong somehow. It seems like they changed the model somewhat to have less pronounced bone structure or perhaps it's just the way it's skinned. Either way they don't look as impressive as the old devilsaurs.

I'll be hanging on to Krushy for a while yet. =)

I've also noticed something... unique to them. When I use Stampeed, I notice when my Devilsaur attacks he leaves massive pools of blood in his wake.

It's kinda awesome... until it turns into the red defile in raid freaking everyone out :D

~I'll post a screenshot tonight when i get home.

I believe we've concluded that the red pool of blood effect comes from a new Devilsaur casting Monstrous Bite. Multiply that times 5 for a Stampede of Devilsaurs (if you use the Stampede glyph)...and it could get really messy. :D

The blood pool is kind of cute until you use it on a boss like Sha of Fear. Then it's *REALLY* annoying. xD I had to turn it off because it made the entire battlefield turn bright, bright red.

I actually really don't like the new sounds they gave to the Devilsaurs, even if they sound really similar to those from Jurassic Park. As much as I love the new skins, I just can't stand the noises :(

At least I still have my King Krush though. :D

Yesterday I decided to tame one of the new Devilsaurs, but Monstrous Bite didn't cause blood effect for me. Can anyone confirm that it was removed?

If you have to play on lowered graphics settings (like I do), the blood effect does not seem to be visible. At least, I've never noticed my new devilsaur leaving blood spills everywhere but maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention.

I put my graphics on the highest setting and tamed a Bronze Young Primal Devilsaur and a Bloodrender devilsaur, and neither showed blood on Monstrous Bite or stampede.

I'm going to say it was removed -- noticed teh blood effects were gone during an LFR yesterday. I was hoping I could see the giant one for Sha of Fear!

Another thing I'd like to add about the new devilsaurs. I had read on a forum post that Kroshik had some different sounds. For the heck of it I tamed him and then went to the Isle of Giants and tamed one of the devilsaurs there. I can definitely confirm that Kroshik's stomping sounds are louder and deeper than the other devilsaurs. It is quite noticeably different. As for the roars and whatnot I really couldn't tell for sure. They sounded similar to me but I wonder if anyone else has noticed a difference in them.

I said in an earlier post that I wouldn't be keeping one of the new devilsaurs but Kroshy is starting to grow on me! I guess I will be keeping one after all! =)
