A Tale of Two Puppies

Ok guys when I was going after a wolf to fill in as my "raid pass" I was leaning toward Barnabus because I love his beautiful clay red pelt but I decided to camp Old Cliff Jumper just to see if he spawned for a day and then alternate between them until one spawned. Well I stayed up for a few hours and then went to bed. The next morning I logged on to head to the Badlands and there was the old worg staring at me. I have been running with Charn in my stable ever since but he never really comes out of the stable much and is the least used pet in the whole lot.

Well months later here I am in the Badlands hunting for my little black whelpling and thinking back on how I was planing to search for my worg until fate bit me on the nose. As I'm running back to Kargath who should I run across but my late hunt Barnabus! I just watched him as he paced back and forth, patrolling his turf when I start to regret never getting him. Now I know that I was able to get my beautiful slate hound but when you feel the hunt it really never fades. So I decide to ask and get your opinions on what I should do, vow to role another hunter and set her out on the path of this elusive companion or let my old boy Charn back to take over his pack once more... when it happens. A flurry of fur and claw, I look in shock as a little cat druid pops out of stealth and kills him. So now I'm left with the same dilemma, save more time to think about it, I know his spawn time should be in about six to twelve hours and I don't have to work tomorrow so do I wait it out and pick him up as my wolf or do I cool my jets and work on that little red headed RP dwarf huntress that I wanted to pick him up on if didn't get it from my escapade all those months ago? I'm really in a pinch here. XD

LOL! Well if it's any indication I was going to put up a screeny of my old boy and me but I just checked and realized that I don't have one. I feel like such a bad pet parent (I have a folder just for WoW screen shots and all of Sers' other pet have their own sub folders).

Personally I think you should go for whichever pet you've loved the longest. Seems like Barnabus is your boy. Camp for him, tame him and run with him. If you and he do not share that same connection the hunt Old Cliff Jumper.

I was going to add something witty and insightful, but Zedxrgal beat me to it ;) Zed completely summed up everything I was going to say.

I really think you should expierment. If he's a pup you've had your heart on, try him on for size. I had the same issue when I ran across Gondria on my nightelf hunter. I hemmed and hawwed and finally decided to get rid of my long fast white wolf from Ashenvale. While not a rare, this pup has carried me 80 levels. After getting the cat, tried her on for a bit and still a little torn if I actually want to keep her in favor of getting my wolf again.

The lucky thing is, you can retame and we should get new slots. (here's hoping we get MORE new slots before the official change Cata will bring. Give us a chance to rescue things ;) )

Also, with Barn being in the Blasted Lands, is there a chance he'll be moved/become extinct due to the massive change in Cata?

Get Barnabus on a new hunter! Just sayin'.

I've done worse... such as, having Rynoh just chillin' in the Dalaran alliance inn, for a good half hour, while during this entire time, my pet is attempting to run to me, but each time is booted out by the guards...

I was going to say the opposite. Seems old cliff jumper is not being used, and you wanted barnabus from the beginning. Go ahead and release him and pick him back up on your alt when ready. Your alt may bond with him better.

I say just go with what you feel. If you don't click with your current wolf it doesnt matter how hard the tame it was if you have been searching for one specific animal since youve started. I think why not try Barnabus out if you like him so much, and if you miss your old pet you can always get him back either on a alt or on your hunter. Like Phyra I am hoping we get more stable slots before Cata comes :)

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to let fate decide this one. I'm still after that little dragonling so when I get the mini I'll leave the zone, but if I come across Barnabus again before it drops I'll call it fate and tame him. I'm BM and with my current pets I just never need a wolf around unless a boss fight is insanely bad for pets like Kel'Thuzad then I just pop him on passive and let him buff my damage for the fight so I'm not so much of a burden on everyone. Once again thank you all so much for the input. ^_^
