Ok I have Noticed Most people Just assume their Spirit Beast is A Male. I know Loque'nahak, Skoll, and Arcturis are Male But i wasnt Sure about Grondria. Mostly names that end in -ria are female names. Could Someone help me out because i gave Grondria a more Male name

Well, a lot of the beasties aren't really connected to any sort of lore, so it's up to you! I wouldn't be too worried about the gender of your pet. I have noticed, however, that Loque, Skoll, Arcturis, Ghostcrawler, and Ban'thalos are often referred to as male, while Gondria, Magria, Ankha, and Karoma are often referred to as female.

I've always assumed she's female, ditto Ankha and Magria. In fact, here's my list:

Male
Loque'nahak
Skoll
Arcturis
Ghostcrawler
Ban'thalos
Hutia

Female
Gondria
Karoma
Ankha
Magria
Degu
Gumi

That's just my personal list, though; others can (and do!) disagree on some. :) Once they're tamed, they're yours, so it no longer matters. :D

I always make Karoma a male personally, I'm not sure why it just doesnt look female to me at all. The rest I agree with, I see all the transparent spirit cats. Ankha, Magria, and Gondria as females/possibly sisters because they share the same model. That's just me personally though.

I've always considered Gondria a female. She just looks that way to me.

Both of my Gondrias (on my blood elf and night elf) are called Tiggy after my son's stuffed tiger, but they are definatley girls!

Interesting on the porcupines! I gave Degu and Hutia boy names and Gumi a silly name and call her she.

Yeah, Gondria and Karoma always struck me as being female as well. Don't have Gon atm, but I named my Karoma "Arcee." :D

I prefer to go by what I name them myself, but if you really want to know, there's a couple of ways to find out. One is to bring your pet to the cursed marines and sailors or Captain Halyndor on the north shipwreck on the northwest side of Wetlands, and allow them to hit you a couple of times and apply Curse of the Eye which will transform both you and your pet into ghost undead with the appropriate gender model.

There's also quest targets and even regular npcs who have flavour text that will reveal your pet's gender. This thread from WoW General may be enlightening. One of the posts has a macro that should easily reveal the gender, but another poster farther down says he also has a macro, but it always shows his pet as male.

Hmm, this is making me curious about my direhorn. I named her Mafalda after an Argentine comic strip character, because the neck frill reminded me of her hairstyle:

Did a bit more digging and found out where that macro came from -- http://www.wowpedia.org/Useful_macros#Target.27s_Gender

Anyhow, most hunter pets I've tried it out on, including Magria, the Razza and the Darkshore Ghost Saber, show up as "Unknown!" -- so far, the only exception is a tamed Echeyakee, which is a boy... but there are probably others.

You know, my Gondria (Guido) was male, but my Ban'thalos (Calliente) is female. So maybe I'm just odd... :D
