If only it worked this way ... I use my WoW credit card everywhere I go. Often people smile, and sometimes they ask me if I play, and that's almost always where it ends. A couple of times in the past couple of years I've met someone who gets really excited, like the server at an Olive Garden who dragged half the kitchen staff out to meet me. Thankfully they were all Horde. But usually it's just a smile and a nod.
(And sometimes people ask my husband if he plays -- instead of asking me, when I am paying with the WoW card -- and then I get really angry.)

Had something like this happen back in when I bought the game with a more happy ending.
I had played the 10 day trial to a stand still, after a brief talk with the owner of the house (aka. my parent) she agreed to let me play if I payed for it of course.
I went to our nearest gamestop (mind you the clerks remember me) had a brief talk with the clerk while buying. It went along something like he asked me that have I started playing just now and I answered yes.
The came the question of Horde or Alliance? I told him with a honest mind that my main was a night elf druid...well he didnt' say anything bad he just said that he owns a druid too on the Horde side. We didn't trade character names since there was a bit of a line after me anyway.

Hilarious. <3 I use the bag I got with my Wind Rider plushie as a multi-purpous study-sack, and if I take it out in a lecture hall, you can see the GIANT RED HORDE sign from a mile away. A guy in one of my practicals asked me if I was Horde or Alliance. I laughed and said 'For The Alliance!'. We haven't spoken since then.
;_;

It was mostly a joke really, since on my course you hardly ever see the same person twice, unless you're best friends. xD
I think he thinks I led him on with the Wind Rider plushie bag...but cmon, our ingame pet looks like it's been choked! *cuddles my Wind Rider plushie*
