Kara's always been up there with Uldular as my favorite raids of all time. Now that it's even more solo'able, I've been sending my assorted characters in there to try for pets, xmog stuff, and Midnight.

But why, oh why does Kara hate my hunter so? The past 3 weeks, my shaman has gone in there and gotten Big Bad Wolf for the opera event. For the past 3 weeks, he's dropped the rifle. My hunter? Twice Romeo and Juliet and once Wizard of Oz. I can't bring myself to vendor or de the rifles on my shaman. Why the heck can't my hunter get the darned thing?

I sympathize very heavily. I had to run Blackwing Lair 48 times on my Horde Hunter before that bastard Broodlord Lashlayer dropped the Heartstriker for her. I don't know how many times it'd take me to get the Big Bad Wolf Rifle, but knowing my past luck, I'd draw the Big Bad Wolf event most of those times, then not see the rifle drop.

If it means much, I've been running BWL on my mage.....get the full priest set! But not a single flippin mage piece!

I'm sorry that this is mildly off-topic (well, it IS off topic, but since you have experience with Kara)..
How the hell does one solo the chess game?
Can it even be done with less than 10 people?
Is there some trick we don't know about?
Two friends and I have been trying to get through that raid and keep getting stuck at the chess event.

Bloody BWL! Took me yonks to get my dragonstaslker set...could of however kited out a shaman or warrior 10x over in that time >.> Also still running for the bow...have no idea how long i've been running but its been months and months ...le sigh!

That bow took me 48 weeks to get before I finally saw it drop. So essentially, just a little over 11 Months for me :/

I haven't tried soloing it after the nerf, but I managed to do it easily with one friend helping. I would always use the king, cast hero on cooldown, not stand in the fire etc, while he did the other pieces.

As a Hunter, it's easy. Exhilaration heals the piece you're using to full, since the game reads it as a pet.

Position your pieces as needed, then pilot your king, attack the enemy king when he gets close, and heal-to-full when he gets low.

I FINALLY got the bow last night, i dunno how long ive been running but its got to have atleast been 6 months, most likely more.

On chess I can solo this pretty easy now using the method others have posted. I dont even need to heal the king, just move the pieces in front out so you can move him if Medivh cheats and pummel the oppositions king with the Mage. Easy win! I did get alot of "Wtf you solo chess??" on real id from a few ppl haha!!

I have a kara question:

I have multiple toons capable of soloing up to the Chess event (which I absolutely HATE).

last week I ran kara 5 times.. and each time, the opera was Red Riding Hood.

yesterday, I ran it twice in a row, and both times it was Romulo and Julianne.

does the opera event have a sort of schedule? like some days it's one, others it's another? or was this simply a case of really weird RNG?

I do this with my three toons each week as well and it seems to be completely random.

The opera event is random. I've gone in on my 3 90's one after the other and gotten Big Bad, Romulo, and Oz one week and ended up getting Oz/Oz/Romulo the next.

My shaman, however, seems to get Big Bad Wolf more often than the others. My hunter is just a magnet for Romulo and Julianne. Gads, I hate that one. I just want my sniper rifle!

I was starting to wonder if I needed to schedule kara on my toons according to what they needed/wanted!

Hubby and I duo'd it considerably pre nerf...took around 3 tries, just plain bruteforced it til we won. Should be pretty easy now with the changes and tactics others have posted.

The Chess event is perfectly soloable now:

Move the pawn in front of Blackhand forward one (to leave room for Blackhand to move onto when Medivh cheats).
Move the pawns diagonally in front of the "bishop" forward one space, then move the bishop diagonally into that space.
Use DBM and look out for the cheat move by Medivh, and move Blackhand out of the fire ASAP, so get out of whatever piece you're in about 10 seconds beforehand and jump into the Warchief for the cheat timer countdown.
Jump in the Warlock and spam firebolts at Llane, and into the Necrolyte to heal Blackhand when needed.
Back into the Warlock/Necrolyte as required, but mostly spamming the fireball and dot combo on Llane to burn him down ASAP.

It might take a go or two, depending on the other side, but I've been doing it on two characters for a few weeks now.

I have been trying for the rifle for months as well, still hasn't dropped. I also refuse to do the do the Opera Event on any other of my chars because if the rifle dropped on one of them I would probably cry.

Don't forget when doing the Chess event, if you're in Blackhand (or Llane) at the time, you can use Exhilaration to heal him back to full, plus Readiness (well, until 5.4 at least)!

You can always get big bad wolf on your hunter if you have multiple characters!
Run kara on your nonhunters,if it's big bad wolf,invite a friend and make him come to the raid and run inside,
take your char outside so he wont get saved, log your hunter, get your friend to invite your hunter,get inside
and your friend may leave so he wont get saved,then it's all up to the lootgod.
