Short answer: Turtles.
Long answer: Direhorns shield only works against most spells (doesn't work against Zandalari Warbringers' fear for example) and some physical attacks, like Slam that those Mogus use at Isle of Thunder's graveyard (but it is only example that I can come up with). Turtles' shield on the other hand works against everything that does damage, and usually, damage is the problem, not some fancy spell effect. And most of the time, that damage comes in the form of manly auto-attacks, against which Direhorns' shield doesn't do anything. Both of these can have max 20% up-time, so that doesn't give you benefit either way, while the difference is that Direhorns are forced to channel and Turtles can continue their attacks. So unless you face foe who spam casts high damage spells against your pet, Turtles are better option if you ask me.

Why dose everyone forget about beetles? They are the same thing as turtles too. :c
But yes they do make for better tanks then direhorns.

Turtles and beetles are mechanically identical. Both are both far superior to a Direhorn for tanking.
