For any of you that picked up the existence of the "Everquest Next" Project during the past 4 years (or if you're just an ancient gamer like me that played EQ1 back in 1999 onwards), Sony has finally put up an official *Everquest Next* site for all to check out and see. Right now, there's not much going on with it, but they have developers there that you can tweet to. They also have an announcement posted about when they'll be revealing "What's Next" on August 2nd at SOE Live in Vegas. I can hardly wait to see what's coming with this, I've missed Everquest for so long.

I know, I was so ecstatic when I saw the official site come up in the search bar tonight. I've been checking every 2 to 3 weeks about any tidbits I could find on it and tonight just had me blown away. I told my buds on vent (there's a small group of us that miss our EQ raiding days) and they are, of course, excited. Anyways, here's one of the poster art pics you can download. Had to rescale it down by 40% to meet the memory size requirements, but it's still good:





However, the one thing I haven't adjusted to yet is the fact that Firiona looks more like a Ranger instead of the previous Paladin/Cleric blend that she had going for her. Another thing I noticed was a little Ratonga near the tail of Nagafen. Already it's intriguing me Anyways, here's to hoping they bring back Beastlords and Bards, I miss those two classes especially

Depending on how it outfolds i defo gonna roll a Dark Elf ranger or beast... or necro.. have a weekness for darkelf necros. Got a lvl 75 necro in everquest 1 i play from time to time

Yeah, 9.5 hours from now they'll be doing that whole debut thing for EQ Next. Gonna watch it live on twitch tv

Everquest looked awfully boring when I once watched it being played when it was out, compared to WoW. Probably because I saw the much older version of it.

Everquest in my book has always been equal to wow cept that they dont have a animal pet class besides the beastlord which cannot chose their own pet..

but then again i strated my mmorpg life with this game so it always have a special palce in my heart

Here's the video's the debut they had for it Tårnfalk. The first 10 minutes are their little "What does EQ mean to you?" vids, so you can skip that if you want. At the 12 minute mark is their "story with sand drawings" and that's pretty fun to watch. They finally get into the meat and bones at the in the sand around the 25 minute mark if you want to skip all of that:

i watched them all i cannot wait til eqn always had a weakness for everquest.... i hope Ratongas will appear so Vermina can continue her journeys in eqn

Honestly, I'm hoping Kobolds make it in as a player race. There's one that appears in the main wallpaper artwork near Nagafen's tail, so speculation is running rampant about them being playable. No official word or hints SOE, though (which shouldn't be surprising).

.... This is about Everquest xD Not WoW.. Kobold's exist in Everquest too but... Well I don't think Mantid do. xD

hehe not that ive seen - i never seen a Naga or a mantid to think of it

Cant see its weirder to play a kobold then a cat (Kerra and Vahshir) or a rat (Ratonga).. or a lizard (Iksar and Sarnaks)

No more weird than other playable non-human races. At one time, it would have been "weird" to play orcs, undead, space goats that resemble a satyr, and even pandas, but here they are in WoW. And as Tarn pointed out, you already have playable cats, rats, and lizards, so I don't see why a playable micro lizard of draconic descent should be off limits.

Anyways, the devs at SOE apparently got a new 3-D printer, and they decided to test it by printing a Kobold. They look like Dungeons & Dragons Kobolds instead of their previous Lupine incarnation in EQ1. Here's a picture they put out:

Like I said, SOE is basing the new Kobolds off of the Dungeons & Dragons type, which are scaly little runts that like to claim they are of draconic descent (see Kobold (Dungeons & Dragons). They are mentioned as serving the Ring of Scale dragons in the EQN novella SOE The Last Stand of the Teir Dal, and some wild speculation out there is saying that if they're a playable race, they'll be allied or tied in somehow with the new Dark Elves (Dark Elves have horns in EQN for some reason). I don't know if they'll be playable or not, but I'd love to play a scaly little runt over a Gnome, Dwarf, or Halfling runt
