So I go into LFR, and theres one person who has one of the store helmets. Instantly upon zoning, a good 9 or 10 people start badgering her, saying a lot of, basically, extremely rude things. It ended up with her getting kicked.
The ironic part, is the one person who was being the most rude and also being the one who was saying the most, was riding on the store bat-mount, and had the guardian cub minipet out aswell.

So, the mounts and minipets are fine, but the helmets are kick-worthy? She only really just said one thing the entire time: "It's just transmog". Thats it.
During the trash pull, they just kept saying more and more atrocious things about her. So I just left before we even reached the first boss.
Some people are just.... eugh

People seem to love to pick on others when they have a feeling of anonymity. Since you don't know and may never see people in LFR again, it's like having double anonymity and that just seems to send some folks into jerk overdrive. It's one of the big downsides to lfr and even lfg. At least in the 'old days' if someone was a total ass, their faction or even both factions on the server would learn about it and that person would find it hard to get into any groups or raids as a result.

I don't really care about folks buying helms or anything else from the store. I'm not really interested in any of the helms and even if I were, I dunno that I'd want to put down 15 bucks for one. That doesn't mean that someone else who wants one shouldn't get one. I dunno whether it's that some people are just looking for any excuse to try to feel big by belittling someone else, or if they're envious because they can't afford to get some store item(s) they want, or both. It just seems as if when something new is offered, some people will gripe about it and make fun of someone who bought it. The sparklepony seems to be the poster child for that kind of thing. Even now folks'll try to put down someone who rides one of those.

MMO had a really long thread (100+ pages) of people arguing over the same thing.

This is why I detest doing LFR - people who are being complete jerks aren't kicked because they usually have buddies to either refuse the vote kick or lock the group in combat so they can't be kicked, and people who aren't doing anything wrong (esp low dps who are poorly geared but otherwise trying) are the ones getting booted.

something similar happened to me today: a first toon fresh 90 called lolandria in my guild just got the item level to do ToT with a few greens most blues and some epics, her dps isnt great, about 40k with kill command.

we were doing tortos with her, it was her first time so we told her to kill the little turtle eggs, her pet could move around fast enough to kill command the eggs she was dpsing, this lead to a dps drop to about 26ishk. we wiped due to everyone except the tank (who was one of our friends) were doing under 80k this was a real problem with a shaman named: (Im not going to give there name but for now we will call him fred)

He decided to pick on lola, not because of transmog or anything, but because her dps, despite her being above a few other dps who wernt kicked. She was trying to kill them, where clearly the people below her were afk on autoattack, but they didnt get kicked. we ended up leaving, im guessing its because he saw her on her blizzard store mount.

anyways, we rejoined lfr, we downed tortos, moves onto meg and killed ji-kun.

the tank, our healer and her are doing halls of flesh shaping as we speak.

We are doing lei shen tommorow, wish her luck on her helm token

Argh, this stuff pisses me off.

I generally think people should only be kicked for being AFK or disruptive to the group's progress.

Started reading the mmo-champ thread. I'm tempted to buy one of these helms just to troll the mouth-foaming rage contingent now.

I've seen plenty of the new helms in lfr groups and nobody has ever commented. It sounds like your lfr had a group of mean little pricks who were looking for anything to use to troll, and a transmog helm was an easy target at the time.

This really grinds my gears! Who CARES what someone wears/has as a mount!! You seriosuly going to pick on someone due to cosmetics! Get over yourself! I'd turn around and go "Oh you ride <w/e rare epeen mount they have> thats so BC, everyone has that!" so annoying!

I have blizzard store mounts and idc what others think. The lion is my favourite actually and my pally used to ride the tyreal horse all the time (technically not a store mount but close enough).

As to the low dps thing with Ash, again that bugs me. Its lfr...it isn't normal mode, it isnt heroic. These fights are designed for ppl with no clue and lesser gear. My main carries grps and thats fine with me. I take in alts and do my best, no one usually says anything and when one elitist does they are usually kicked lol. I'm sorry your friend had to put up with that Hopefully that doesn't put her off.

I don't understand the whole complaining about a persons gear/mounts, whether it's bought from a store, or vendor, drop, or achievement, it doesn't matter...It's not something game breaking, or giving an edge to anyone its merely cosmetic.
As to LFR, yeah, its a dummed down version of the raids, its meant for people off all play styles and experience. So long as the players are making an attempt to be helpful and not just auto-attacking or standing around doing nothing, then I really could care less at their numbers.
the only time I do get a little irked is when there are repeated fail attempts on a boss, and its noted nicely what to do/not do, and some people keep doing the don't then usually I send them a whisper to re-explain how the fight goes, but i don't call it out in chat.

yeah, it didnt put her off at all, before we got in the raid we were saying: At some point you'll be kicked, it be now or next year when you're a pro at wow, it will happen, just dont worry about it. she didnt worry about it, tbh with us 5 being top dps and heals, i dont think the guy who kicked her got past the first boss lol.

Raids can be scary for a new player, 24 people, and you need to try and not be the worst. if someone asks you something its scary to say anything back, so when elitists try and ruin fun it really annoys me, my lfr first runs were kinda fun, but thats because some annoying full epics guy came up to me and ruined it.

I don't like how they look personally I have no transmogs to go with them, but frankly it's not my money is it? It's your money, & if you want to save up a little & get a doo-dad from the blizzard store go right ahead. Am I going to shaft my friend who bought some helms from the blizzard store cause they match his transmog perfectly? No way, it's his or her money not mine... I find it pathetic that NOW, folks are making a big fluff over the items being sold on the blizzard store, when everyone were buying pets, mounts back when they were released... ''shrugs'' People are *ssholes... blow them off, they're not worth your time. Ignore - is your friend.
