With the new future of people being able to switch around, a lot of folks are wondering what the community is like in different places. Hence, this thread so that we have a slightly more organized thread to talk about your flight, both for those switching and those who will join Flight Rising soon.

My opinion on Shadow:

Shadow is...interesting. A whole mixed bag of stuff. It seems somewhat cliqueish to me, and the community is huge. It is very difficult to find a place. But while most Flights would be willing to just let people fend for themselves, Shadow has the interesting thing going on where they are trying very hard to change themselves. There were a few (now dead) threads devoted to forum games. Many raffles. Several schemes for domination. The community is alright. Unfortunately for Shadow, a lot of people give it a bad rep because of the whole "oooh shadow is evil" and stuff, and there's been drama on tumblr, but that's probably any flight. They do have the whole "well we're loners" thing going on, unfortunately.

So if you're a fan of a big group of tricksters, you definitely want in on Shadow.

Wind: I never really got involved in the Wind flight forums, to be honest. A bit of searching around revealed a TON of giveaways, raffles and other such threads, however, and there's certainly a place for every fandom that has ever existed. Dominance doesn't seem to be a thing Wind cares about much, so if you want dominance, Wind isn't the place to go. But uh- talk to Kore, she knows more about wind than I do!

Personally I'm most interested in Plague due to the idea that it's the most RP-heavy of the flights. I've been told that here as well as on Tumblr- in fact, when I mentioned that I might go Plague, I got a ton of people encouraging me to do so.

Earth:

The only thing I'll add is that, with my personal experience, Earth does have a bit of a thing for IRC. If you're active on Mibbit IRC with the people there and join in with what everyone is doing, you'll have a great time and fit right in. If not, you'll end up feeling a little left out and not really meshing with the community. They are also not huge on organized Coliseum stuff, but when Dominance pushes come around the whole flight tends to get fired up and go at it together!

It's been a while since I've been to the Plague forum, but what i remember of it is a lot of people very into the flight and what we represent, but without playing dirty or being mean. Lots of people very into having plague themes lairs, and, from what i saw, a pretty laid back bunch. I personally haven't seen any actual RP, but definitely a lot of people embracing the low and stuff and while not necessarily posting in character, they post in the Plague mindset if that makes sense. Lots of love and worshipping of our deity even though she almost never posts.

I really like Fire Flight. I do. Everyone is friendly and I think pretty helpful. Currently someone is organizing a secret santa which is going to be SO MUCH FUN. I had toyed with going to earth cause I love the eyes. But I am really happy with Fire.

Nature Flight is very friendly and generous and oh gosh like we have people sometimes just do these random giveaways and sometimes we talk about animals and plants and you know... nature stuff. Seems a lot of the members there really live up to the element they chose.

Man you guys are making all the flights sound good lol.

Lightning is a bunch of fun loving nerds. Lots of scientists/engineers are in there as well as overall OMGBLUESTUFF/Storm lovers and some steampunk fans to boot.

Our leader is a sassy brat, and our dominance organization and free raffles for newbies and whatnot (even a thread to PAY for peoples lair expansions up to a certain level) are awesome!

We even have a big art thread with a bunch of human!stormcatcher art in it (that he posted on, being his bratty self as usual XD ).

I switched from Arcane to Light, but it was mostly because of eye colour. But I also never really felt like I was part of Arcane... I dunno. They're not a bad bunch.
