Pet ability: Acid Spit

I am a BM hunter and recently tamed a new pet, a blue worm from Maraudon. Initially I tamed it to go with my transmog but tested it out on a raid target dummy and found that when specced to ferocity its dps was better than I expected. I proceeded to use the worm in various situations on different mobs and its ability "Acid Spit" was placed on my targets and seemed to be quite helpful in adding to my damage.
Then I went to the timeless Isle and joined a group to kill a Celestial, however the Acid Spit debuff did not show on the boss and thus my questions: 'are raid bosses immune to the debuff from this pet and if so is it all raid bosses or just the newest ones?' and/or 'is it possible the Acid Spit debuff is not showing because of a glitch which Blizz is not aware of?'
If anyone can confirm or help answer this question I'd be grateful. There would be nothing worse than having a nice 4% dmg from a pet ability but finding it's useless in a raid.
